Reporter Linda: We're back at the training facilities of the New York Silverbacks catching up with players on how they spent their time off between seasons and how they are preparing for the new season ahead. We've already heard from the rookie quarterback and the powerhouse players on the Silverbacks offense. Then we were able to catch up with up-and-coming defensive tackle Lionel Scrimmage about his offseason activities. Lionel, thanks for taking the time to talk with us. Can you tell our viewers about how you spent the past few weeks? Any exciting travel?
Lionel: Thanks, Linda. This offseason I didn’t travel but chose to have a ‘staycation’ to get used to my new home in New York City. Following my rookie season in the ISFL, for the first time people are starting to recognize me on the street. A few weeks ago I was asked to participate in my first local commercial with my time off. With my nickname of “jellyroll”, I was able to represent the Doughnut Plant – a great local spot to find delicious baked confectionaries filled with custards and of course amazing jellies. It was a fantastic experience to feel like a part of my new community and to have more time outside of training to make the most of the local shops and activities in the city.
