It was certainly an exciting off-season for John Stark VIII. Coming off of a painful Ultimini loss, Stark went back home to be with family and prepare for the upcoming ISFL draft. He spent time grinding film and working on his physical tools. All this hard work certainly paid off, as Stark wowed scouts at the combine. Former star ISFL tight end Heath Evans would go so far as to say Stark was the combine champion.
Despite the media projecting him as a top prospect and unanimous first rounder, Stark chose to forgo the live draft experience, instead spending draft night at home with his family and friends. Stark was thrilled to hear his name called as the Orange County Otters drafted him with the fourth overall pick.
Enthusiastic to be called up to the ISFL right away, he showed up to training camp with a smile on his face. Determined to improve both his physical tools and his knowledge of the game, Stark gave it his all. His effort paid off, with his Otter teammates voting him defensive captain in only his first season. Stark enters the season with lofty ambitions and a hunger to prove himself to the world.
