Task 7 - 600+ Words - 10 TPE
Okay I believe this is the first time that I am doing this task due to the fact that the open ended nature of it, however I have had a slight hiccup in my earning this past season that gives me something I can ramble about for a bit in regards to the league. That thing in question being TPE as I missed a couple of tasks this season due primarily to my own poor health, but also in part because of banking burnout. Now I admittedly am an outlier here as according to my quick check Cross-Eriksen is one of the top five all time in terms of TPE, however I still think the complaint holds water that banking is boring given the complaints about it I have heard in other leagues regarding minor league caps. What makes it frustrating here is that Cross-Eriksen was capped from December 24th 2022 to June 4th 2023 or a total of 163 days according to a quick timeanddate check. That is almost six months where I was doing activity checks, point tasks, predictions, and updating for all of zero clear benefit.
Imagine if you will the Sisyphean torture that that is to be doing all the tasks that were rewarding you with better attributes before, but now you are doing just because that is the burden that you have decided to carry. Sure you know logically it comes with the minor future benefit of better surviving regression, however as the kicker with the absurdly long surname proved it is only really earning after regression that matters when it comes to surviving regression making it feel all the more meaningless to fight for those last few extra TPE before regression.
Now despite this mostly just being me moaning about a problem that I am now finally past as I can spend this season slowly increasing stamina I do want to do it the proper justice of analysis. The start of that analysis is what the caps are for each of the positions as I know my player being a safety capped at 1295 compared to the peak TPE of ~1600. I am only looking at defense for us due to how time consuming it is with our player builder, but just on defense Center Fielder Safety honestly has a pretty high cap at 1295. The lowest appears to be Defensive End Speed Rusher with a cap of 1215, the highest defensive end archetype is Run Stuffer at 1240, and the highest for any defensive player is the Cornerback Slot Corner archetype at 1330 TPE only 83.125% of peak earning.
How does this compare to our affiliates? I am glad I asked for you and the answer is horrific as I have not seen anyone break 2000 TPE in the PBE during my tenure, although I know several users have gotten close so I will use that as a guide. In the PBE no pitcher caps before 2000 TPE so they will always have something to do, and for position players it is a bit trickier to analyze as there are a couple of positions that don't really need to put points into defense which can skew things. Given where an archetype would be expect to thrive they do have a few position archetypes that fall short in Freak Outfielders at 1995, Contact Catchers at 1960, Three True Outcome Catchers at 1955, Balanced Catchers at 1920, Power Designated Hitters at 1885, and Magician Center Fielders at 1875 which amusingly is the archetype I play over there. That said the worst of those is still sitting at 93.75% of cap over 10% closer than our best defensive option relative to cap. Over in the SHL it is even more ridiculously in their favor given their system is everyone is essentially a freelancer and to reach cap would take about 4000 TPE when the record is below 2400 to my knowledge and you have a to cap of 166.67% or over double our best defensive archetype.
Given this I think it is clear that when we next look at a balancing patch that we should be looking at making it so players can spend more of the TPE that is potentially available to them so as to avoid the dreaded banking burnout that has caused me to miss all of two predictions this past season. A scourge like that must be put down hard and fast lest it poison our water supply, burn our crops, and deliver a plague unto our houses.
Post Script: Also if we could copy PBE and make it so all the written prompts can be 150+, 300+, 450+, or 600+ words for the 2.5, 5, 7.5, or 10 TPE to mix and match for this that would be great. Thank you for your time either way and I hope you have a great day!
