16. Spottie O’Dopaliscious had a whirlwind of season as did his team, the Arizona Outlaws. We were coming off a fantastic Ultimus winning season and had all the same faces returning to the team. Other teams in our division had gotten weaker as well, so it was looking primed for Arizona to make another run at a trophy. After an opening win over Austin, things took a turn for the worst and Arizona went on to lose 5 of 6, including a 4 game losing streak to wind up at 2-5 nearly half way through the season. To make matters worse, Arizona had traded away their 1st round pick which was trending to be the top overall pick. However, the Outlaws were not to be denied and ended up running the table winning their last 9 games to finish 11-5 and a tie for best record on their conference. Arizona steam rolled their way through OCO in the first round 34-26 (a much more flattering score than the game was) and mollywhopped HON in the second round 43-20. A truly remarkable turnaround to go from last in the division to winning the conference championship. They faced artist formerly known as the Philadelphia Liberty in the final in what turned out to be an instant classic. Down by 5 with 2 minutes to go, Arizona took the lead on a TD pass to Louis Blondin. Unfortunately, the defense could not hold and ended up giving up the game losing FG with seconds left in the game. It was a hard fought game and the Outlaws had nothing to be ashamed of. As for my player specifically, Spottie didn’t have the flash numbers and only got 1 INT on the year, but he did finish with the 2nd most PD’s (34) and 6th most tackles for a cornerback (97). There’s definitely room for improvement and Spottie is looking forward to doing so next season.
26. If I wasn’t playing as a fake professional football player in a fake professional football league, I would (in the words of the infamous Blake Bortles) “probably working construction and rippin cigs”. I’m a simple man when it comes to work. I just so happen to have also won the genetic lottery and have been blessed as an athlete. If I did not have these awesome physical traits, I would just be on a jobsite hammering nails with my hammer or screwing screws with my screwdriver. There’s nothing more rewarding than accomplishing something with your hands. Much like in football, I can see the results of my hard work. I make a tackle, I see the guy laying there in pain. I intercept a pass, I see the QB’s mom crying in the stands. The rewards a tangible. For construction, you get done with your job and something is physically built. I wouldn’t survive looking at spreadsheets and emails. No thanks. I need some satisfaction out of all my hard work.
