I have seen it touched upon a bit here but I think only in terms of the QB position but I think I general, position based regression would be a radical and great idea.
Certain positions require a lot of development in the DSFL such as the QB position and in general, as mentioned, QBs usually have longer careers but not all. Maybe a mobile QB regresses sooner or is forced to switch archetypes at regression time. You don't see running QBs running much as they get older. Michael Vick, Russell Wilson, Fran Tarkenton were running less as they aged and ours should too.
Running backs should have shorter careers but fullbacks probably having longer with wide receivers being shorters with tight ends being longer. Kickers should have very long careers as well.
On the defensive side, secondary players or at least corners don't last as long I believe with linebackers next and defensive linemen lasting longer.
Perhaps you can (like I should have) researched average retirement age in NFL or professional football and base it off that. Could even just lower percentages of regression for certain positions as well so you still have some negative movement but at a declined rate for players that last longer in NFL terms or are forced to develop in the DSFL longer.
