Just to preface this: I have precisely zero data on this, so it’s all anecdotal and based on experience and conversations with others around the league.
Provide a 1:1 alternative to Twitter income in terms of the time investment. With the 60 second “timeout” to stop spam with the current discord payments — which is logical and a requirement for the sake of the server itself — the “Twitter income” has gone from being secured by an activity check to being a relatively substantial time investment. During a conversation with one member of the league in DM’s, we discussed this issue and poked our head into the server to see a flood of messages that were either “money” or some form of animated gif that were certainly found using the same keyword. Maybe I’ve been unlucky with the few times I’ve looked in, where that seems to be common but I’m not really sure that can be deemed constructive for the league. There have also been (valid) concerns raised about the long term effects this could have on the league economy for the casual earners but I’d imagine HO is monitoring this.
A relatively simple alternative to the overhaul would have been to have a channel on the discord that you can only post in once every 24 hours. 7 posts per week = Max payout, as before. Other leagues have also come up with other solutions, such as Chirper in the SHL, which seem to be working well. Just my 2c.
