First week is in the books, and as always, we get to see that the preseason doesn’t mean much in predicting the regular season. I had high hopes for the Orange County Otters, but the first set of games were a complete disaster, finishing 0-4 and almost killing any serious playoff hopes before they even got started. The expectation was that we’d win 2-3 of the first 4, so being so far behind hurts really bad. The fact that these were not close games also hammers home that disappointment.
So where do we go from here? We play the games of course! The second set of sims is already turning around a little bit, and while the Otters are at a disadvantage, they can still have a great year. And if they can get into the playoffs, then anything can happen, a few lucky coin flips goes a long way. So while I’d love to have full on knee-jerk reactions after the first set, I’m going to stick it in for the long haul and see if we can revert to the mean (in a good way, of course).
