Trees have long been a love of Owen Taylor. It’s weird, he knows it, but he’s ok with it. Straight out of college, Taylor used that love to help start a small business as an arborist. For those who don’t know, an arborist is someone who makes recommendations on types of trees to buy, where to plant them, and also helps with upkeep of them (trimming, shaping, etc). He was able to get a small business up and running before he was drafted into the NSFL, which is now run by his brother during the season, as Taylor is too busy. During the off-season though, he’s able to hop right back in and get to work.
Since he graduated, Taylor has been too heavy of a man to get into the trees to help with trimming and shaping. After this past season, Taylor has lost a ton of weight (with the help of the Hawks dietician and weight training coaches) for his position switch to running back. He will finally be able to climb the trees once again. This upcoming season holds a lot of potential for the Hawks, and the team expects great things, but he can’t help be at least a little excited for the next off-season and his career after football.
