In the days before Dax Dangerfield was a standout cornerback for the New York Silverbacks he was a Heisman finalist quarterback for the University of Oregon Ducks. Dax had many big games in his collegiate career, including playing in a national title game, but the contest that stands out the most for him is his very first start as a true freshman. Oregon's top two quarterbacks had gone down to injury early in the season, and Dax went from a possible redshirt candidate to the leader of the team. In his first real test, Dax showed the world what he was made of, beating the UCLA Bruins and thrusting himself into the national spotlight. After a back and forth contest, Dangerfield was finally able to get over the hump and led the team to a game winning drive in overtime to defeat the Bruins 42-25 in front of a raucous crowd. The rest, they say, is history.
