While I am a recreate for S37, I want to talk about my original draft class S25. For those that don't know, this draft class was a r/NFL draft class and thus was a very large and impactful draft class. I am going to discuss a few players I think had amazing careers from the S25 class.
First up would be Daniel Foster, the second overall pick in the draft by the Yellowknife Wraiths. Foster was a hotshot cornerback from the Portland Pythons and was immediately pressed into action for his new team. Foster delivered what is one of the great careers for a Corner back in league history. By the end of his career Foster ranked fourth in ISFL history in pass deflections and had amassed close to 950 tackles. Combined with being a probowler and career long Wraith, Foster was well worth his number two overall selection. While Foster is a great value pick for Yellowknife, he is the one person I am talking about in this piece that in unlikely to be selected to the Hall of Fame.
The next player I would like to discuss was the 11th overall pick by the Orange County Otters, Goat Tank. Originally Tank entered the league as a defensive tackle but switched to running back after three seasons. As a defensive tackle, Tank was dominant in his rookie season and amassed 7 sacks from his interior positions. The switch to running back was a fantastic move for Tank. He never had a season under 1200 yards after the switch until his season 36 performance where he still amassed over 900 yards on 226 carries. Tank currently sits as 7th all time in rushing yards and fourth all time in rushing TDs. While I believe he absolutley deserves recognition by the hall of fame, one has to wonder how much greater his career truly could have been had he chosen to start as a running back from the beginning.
The third player that deserves a mention is the 14th overall pick in the draft, corner back Rich Triplett. Originally drafted by the San Jose Sabercats, Triplett spent a majority of his career on the Arizona Outlaws. Triplett's career and ability to shut down opposing wide receivers makes Revis Island look like Gilligan's. He is currently 1st in league history in terms of pass defenses and he even has respectable numbers in his return games. Triplett had some of the best individual seasons for a corner back and seems to be a lock for the hall of fame once he becomes eligible. I would say this is one of the best picks in the draft but the Sabercats did not get much value from the pick as most of Triplett's career came after his move to Arizona.
The final player I would like to highlight in my review of the S25 draft is the player I consider the steal of the draft. That player is Mark Walker who was taken 43rd overall by Yellowknife. Walker's stats are just absurd value for a player that was picked in the fourth round of any draft and he also has the added value of being a member of Yellowknife for his entire career. At this point in his career, Walker seems like a certain lock for the ISFL hall of fame. He is currently top 5 all time in receptions, total receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. The man has had one of the best careers as a wide receiver in the history of the league and it has all been on one team. Yellowknife fans look forward to the day Walker's number hangs in their ring of honor.
