After being named the new starter in Kansas City, Jake Jefferson thrived in an offense that was built around his skills. While he had the fewest yards of any starter, he bolstered his team's offense with 657 rushing yards to contribute to a lethal three-headed rushing attack with Jason West and Heiiajs D. Owidhuse. Kansas City also owed their 11-3 record to an incredibly stout defense who was not swayed by losing their entire front seven to the ISFL and allowed the fewest rushing yards in the DSFL.
The Ultimini was both the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. The Coyotes went down 17-0 against the Luchadores before storming back to tie the game in the last four minutes thanks to two touchdown passes and a recovered onside kick to set up the equalizing field goal. Overtime went back and forth with neither team able to break through, but late in the frame the Coyotes benefited from an interception in their own redzone with time for one last drive. Two downs were only able to get the team to a third-and-one situation, but at this point one of the worst miscommunications in recent memory happened as Jefferson spiked the ball on a third-and-one. While this stopped a running clock late in overtime, the team was 80 yards from paydirt anyway. The Coyotes were unable to convert a fourth-and-one and thus lost to a field goal the other way, but the fact they were able to even get there was a credit.
Next season will be another important one for Jefferson. It remains to be seen whether he will be switching positions for his eventual entry into the ISFL since Chicago already has their quarterback, but regardless of where he'll play Jefferson still really, really wants that Ultimini victory and he'll do whatever he can in order to get there next season.

I would make the game not spike the ball on 3rd and 1 of overtime in the Ultimini.
But seriously, I like where the sim is at especially compared to what DDSPF16 was, I like the level of detail that the sim has in showing plays. Some things that I've found odd are the aforementioned brainlock decision making in things like punting at inopportune times and giving up on a lot of plays, and I'd also like to see more detail given to defensive and special teams plays such as kick returns. These changes would hopefully be designed to allow more users to see their individual players in actions - if you're a return specialist, you just about never see your actual player but only the bar going across the field. Finally, I would also love to see a sim that is less of a "one stat to rule them all type", since min-maxing is still the only real way to have a productive player in this game.
