Ricky Maddox is over 600 TPE, but he has everything but endurance maxed. At this point, his new TPE only makes him more expensive for the same player. This is a very good point and also a probalem with some positions/archetypes. There are some that just peak remisiculously early and as such will have the ability to dominate for years. Then there are others that take a very long time to peak and thus will only be good for a couple years

Seems like we go down this path every season. I don't really have much opinion one way or the other about how the current contract system is handled, but I can tell you that if timed properly your team can do some very friendly contracts. I signed an extension after S2 ended for S4-S6 at $1m per year because I was just barely under 400 TPE at the time. Now I'm above 600 TPE and just going into my first year of that $1m contract. I have 623 TPE. Expecting to continue to earn at my rate of around 200 TPE per season that means I will be playing the S6 playoffs (cause you know we'll be there) at around 1200 TPE for $1m cap hit.
TL;DR We all hate the Outlaws, but I literally am signed to the most team friendly contract in the league considering my TPE. Hank Winchester (S25 - Current) - Scrub
Angus Winchester (S1-S12) - 4x Ultimus Champ - #2 Career Sacks - Hall of Fame
Cooter Bigsby (S14-S23) - S23 Ultimus Champ - #4 Career Yards - #4 Career TDs - 2x MVP - Hall of Fame

It's well known that that position caps out well before others. To base changes around that position in this instance would be foolish. People keep making the argument "nobody is there yet" but it doesn't add up. We're still going to have a problem. It absolutely will go away, I don't understand this argument You can sign 24 players, with 17 in tier 5 and 7 rookies to 2 million, like you said. Ok, well, now I have literally no offensive line. The new OL ruling means you can't just go up to the edge of the cap and expect to be a successful team. And I mean, look at the contracts people are signing. Outlaws have a lot of guys signing mins, but not EVERYONE is signed to mins. You think in S6 we will have enough money to throw 6.5M at a then-100 TPE OL? Think we have enough money to give a player 23M in one year? Think we have enough money to front load contracts as 6M-500K-500K? Absolutely not. Seems like people think that everyone will just always take minimum, and that's just not the case. I can agree that contracts should scale up, but it's absolutely going to work itself out how it is now. Take all the current vets on 500K and 1M contracts, change it to 4M, and see how much that changes the landscape of the league. I guarantee it'll be a MASSIVE change (10-26-2017, 09:50 AM)timeconsumer Wrote:Seems like we go down this path every season. When you hit the TPE cap for that tier, the next season your salary is automatically bumped up to the minimum for the next tier. Simple. But that's still part of the problem. The Outlaws is just where it's most apparent. But people should want to get as much value as possible from their contracts, and unfortunately that's not what happens in this league because money is not valuable at all.

Honestly, if this problem pops up here every season, (and always brought forth by a different person) this is clearly something that needs to be addressed.
