This past offseason was probably the biggest one in Jay Cue's career. After finally getting to the playoffs with the Arizona Outlaws, on his first regression season funnily enough (after missing trips to the postseason even with 1400 TPE), he decided to change his play style to try and suit his team a little bit better. After a so called failed experience with mobility, he has now decided, on what is probably going to be his last season as a QB in the league, to face his second regression with some more finesse, and try to manage the game with some cheese speed. Looking at his stats after this adjustment, he is still one of the best QBs in the ISFL, so who knows what can happen? Regression sucks, that is true, but looking at his game last night, nobody can tell that he is finished. Even though the Outlaws lost to the Orange County Otters with a late Alex D field goal, Cue was incredible during the game, finishing with 3 TD passes to 0 Interceptions, with a QBR of nearly 130.
If some expected Cue to lay down and die in Season 26, he proved that that idea might not be right. We will wait for the next chapters to be sure.
A lot has changed from last season, both for my player and my team. While the Wraiths had a small draft class this year, we drafted for quality over quantity. Outstanding players have been added to the team through the draft. With three good receivers, we will be able to run a normal depth chart again, unlike last season. This bodes well for Zee Rechs, as I will no longer have to play fullback. Our offense looks to be in great shape, with a lot of high-earning young players many seasons from regression. A definite improvement from last season in all aspects of the offense. The Wraiths defense also looks good, with multiple young players being added or position switching to have a pretty good defense. We do have several veterans that are likely in their last seasons, but overall our defense also looks much improved as well. Hopefully, with a full spread of offensive weapons, Zee is primed as a breakout candidate this year after a disappointing last season. I think I can be a legit candidate for TEoty, certainly for Breakout of the year. With all the additions and improvements the team has made this season, I firmly believe that the Wraiths are a legitimate playoff contender after ending the last two with a losing record.

The difference between this season and last season? Darren Pama is in the ISFL, playing games where he's not locked to 250 TPE, and my fantasy group isn't finished drafting this time! I don't think all that much will change in the ASFC. Last season, the Otters, Outlaws, and Sabercats made it to the playoffs and I wouldn't be at all surprised for those 3 to be the same this season as well. That being said, the Outlaws took a bit of a hit. Their trade pickup from last year left for yellower pastures, outspoken Cornerback Zamir retired, Saba Donut regressed to the point that he is firmly in the 3rd Receiver category, and Cue fell to barely above 1000 TPE as he nears the twilight of his career. In exchange, their numerous active younglings, including the strong S22 and S25 classes continue to make strides. As for Darren Pama specifically, he's up to 100 speed and doesn't have any of the really important stats below 70 anymore. It feels really good to be pumping up stats again, and hopefully my performance improves as they do. Unfortunately, there is one thing that doesn't seem to have changed: whether Pama is in the DSFL or the ISFL, it appears his teams are still cursed to lose games in last second fashion in any number of different ways. Seriously, it's getting a bit exhausting by now.
Well there have actually been quite a few changes recently to reflect on. First, before the season even began Immanuel Blackstone opened the front page of the league website only to find out that he had been traded to the Honolulu Hahalua. He was stunned. Although he knew that a trade was in the works with the team for another Yeti defensive end, this was not something that he had been informed of at all. He decided to play it cool but before long the news came out to the rest of the team and yet there was still not a peep from the team administration. Blackstone himself got an invite to the Hahalua LR and jumped on a a plane for the 8 hour flight. When he landed he was greeted with a welcome luau only to find that he had actually been traded back to the Yeti after all in what amounted to a clerical error. So, apart from these theatrics, Blackstone has had to adjust to playing with another partner on the DL, Redbeard McFredbeard who was recently drafted. Perhaps the greatest change though is the retirement of Wolfie McDummy and the addition (or, rather, calling-up) of new Yeti QB, Matthias Caliban. Blackstone is confident that they will be able to gel quickly so that they can find their way back to the Ultimus again in no time.
