1) PLAYOFF REVIEW: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches.
When you look up the word “upset” in the dictionary from now on, you’ll simply find a boxscore from this game. The Marshals came into this game as the best regular season team of all time, and most people expected this to be a solid win for them. And why wouldn’t they? The game was being played in San Antonio, and the Marshals had already beaten the Luchadores twice this season. Both of those wins were by small margins, sure, but at the end of the day, San Antonio swept the season series. But in this league, anything can happen, and the Marshals had to learn that lesson the hard way. Despite an excellent performance from Cooter Bigsby (156 yards on 18 completions for three touchdowns and only one interception), the rest of the team could not find their rhythm. Star running back Morgan Marshall was unable to find the endzone, not a single receiver gained more than fifty yards, and the normally stifling defense gave up a monstrous 96 yard touchdown to rookie running back Forrest Gump. The well-oiled machine that was San Antonio during the regular season finally had a monkey wrench thrown in its gears, and they were unable to recover. The Luchadores defied the odds, and now find themselves in a position to defend their DSFL title. Code: 221 words 4) HEAD TO HEAD MATCHUP: Write about two offensive and defensive players that will go against each other in the playoffs. This year’s Ultimini championship features an unexpected, but exciting, matchup between two unlikely teams. The Portland Pythons are being lead by a true rookie, quarterback Franklin Armstrong, who has shocked the league with his phenomenal play this season. The Pythons’ opponents are the Tijuana Luchadores, the defending champs who beat the best regular season team of all time on their way to the Ultimini. JoJo Burr-Kirven, a linebacker for the Luchadores, has been a force for the team this season, and has played a big role in their success. Burr-Kirven and Armstrong are no strangers, however: they were actually teammates during the Prospect Bowl, playing for the East Cobras. Thus, this year’s Ultimini will have a special meaning for these two teammates-turned-rivals, and it’s difficult to predict which former Cobra will prove victorious. In two regular season meetings, the Luchadores and Pythons each won a game. Armstrong played well in both games, although he only recorded two touchdown passes in the season series against Tijuana (and a single interception). On the other side of the ball, Burr-Kirven totaled 21 tackles across those two games, but had little impact elsewhere. Each player is going to have to step up his game if he wants to secure the win for his team. Tijuana excelled at stopping the Marshals’ ground game, so Armstrong will have to lead an aerial assault, finding his receivers and putting the ball where only they can get it. Burr-Kirven will need to divert some of his energy away from making tackles and putting towards forcing turnovers: picking off passes and forcing fumbles. Both players certainly have the talent and the drive to take their team all the way. But only one will leave the field a champion. Expect a good game from both of these players, and an Ultimini for the ages. Code: 304 words 13) THAT MAGIC MOMENT: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch. Man, I hate that I’m writing about this. Getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first round always stings. But giving up a 96-yard touchdown run on your own field is something else. Seeing the ball carrier get a block, break a tackle, get free, and take it to the house is not something you want to see happen, unless it’s your team. But that’s the moment I’m writing about, even though that run came against me and my San Antonio squad in the SFC Conference Championship. And I’m doing so to honor the man behind the run, the one and only Forrest Gump himself. Forrest and I were teammates on the Central Grizzlies, where we made it to (and lost) the Prospect Bowl Championship. During that time, we got to be friends with each other, and although we didn’t end up on the same team in the DSFL team, I continued to root for him (except when we played Tijuana, of course). Forrest is a fantastic person, on and off the field. He’s a great locker room presence, and despite all of the adversity we suffered in the Prospect Bowl, he never once said anything negative about his teammates. He always apologized after a loss, even though he wasn’t responsible for it. He was humble, worked hard, and was kind to everyone. So, if there was anybody in the league who got to break off such a huge run against us, I’m glad it was him. And, for any NSFL GMs who might be reading this, I’ll leave you with the pre-draft slogan I came up with for him: “If you don’t draft Gump, you a chump.” Code: 279 words 16) ROBBED: Write about why your team was robbed from making the playoffs, how did the sim screw you and why you were more deserving. I’ll start by saying this: I know there’s no grand conspiracy to keep San Antonio from winning the Ultimini. I know, logically, that the sim is just weird sometimes, and that bad things are bound to happen to every team from time to time. But, having said that, it feels like San Antonio is cursed by the football gods. The Season 14 San Antonio Marshals were the best regular season team of all time, hands down. Look at the numbers: most points scored (398), largest point differential (205), and second-fewest points allowed (193). They went 13-1, and if not for one late game interception, they would have been the first undefeated team in DSFL history. This Marshals squad is one of the best DSFL teams ever assembled. And you expect me to believe that they can’t handle the 8-6 Luchadores at home]/i]? That a team that didn’t give up allow more than 27 points in a game suddenly lets their opponent put up 30? [i]On their own turf? It’s stuff like that that makes me believe that not only are the football gods real, they despise San Antonio for some reason. It’s hard to say that a team deserves to win the championship--each playoff team can make a solid case for why the championship should be theirs. But this season, San Antonio absolutely deserved to win the Ultimini. And even though we’ll all move past this loss, we won’t ever forget how we got robbed of our title. Code: 252 words
9) Rivalries
Write about another team and why they are overrated and why you want them to lose. The Portland Pythons may be the most overrated team in the history of the NFL. It’s actually kind of embarrassing for the rest of the league that Portland has been able to put together a season like they have with their roster. It’s a collection of some of the least talented fast people I’ve ever seen. Don’t get me wrong, they have a few good players. Franklin Armstrong, Gekyume Stokely, and Leighton Lee are all impressive guys. Other than that you have a team of track athletes trying to play football. Exhibit A: Ahri and Brock Landers lit that secondary up in the playoffs and the linebackers had to bail them out with goal line stands and pick sixes. The offense did absolutely nothing against Norfolk either. An uncharacteristically bad showing from Armstrong after the SeaWolves started getting after him and taking away his top receiver. The running game has never been impressive. I want to see these guys lose so bad. They aren’t good and don’t deserve their success. I’d love to see Rod Tidwell bless them with some of the kwan in the Ultmini, or for Forrest Gump to turn in another performance like his last game against San Antonio. Go Tijuana. 10) Trades Written: Talk about a player who was traded this past offseason or was a free agent signing and how they will affect the Ultimus or Ultimini, or how they helped their new team in making the playoffs or cost their old team. When the Kansas City Coyotes took the polarizing QB prospect Ryan Leaf Jr. in the third round, they believed that they were getting a QB who could lead their team into the future. They weren’t prepared for the locker room drama that this kid would cause. He immediately antagonized the incumbent starter, Rose Jenkins. Who didn’t back down either. Then Leaf proceeded to contribute very little as a QB in the beginning of the season for an awful KC team that was an Ultmini runner up just a season ago. Things couldn’t get any worse. Then Leaf showed up and demanded a trade. He was practically given away to the Norfolk SeaWolves for a conditional 4th round pick. This deal also came with additional demands. He’d have to step down as a QB and switch to defensive tackle. This was probably the best decision Leaf ever made as a football player. About 35 pizzas and 250 cans of PBR later Ryan Leaf Jr. was a bona fide DT. So begun the Leaf redemption story. He ended up dominating down the stretch and will likely find himself in the pro bowl as a DT in his rookie season. In the playoffs against archrivals Portland, he delivered a punishing hit on Python’s QB Franklin Marshall as he scrambled for the end zone, forcing a key fumble inside his own 5 yard line. An impressive late season effort has given this young man’s career new life going forward (should he keep his head on his shoulders). 11) Sit-down with a star Written: Interview a player from a team that is not your own that is in the playoffs. You must ask them four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT. Interview with San Antonio's Walt Green @Duilio05 1. How do you think you and your Marshals teammates dealt with the pressure of being the clear Ultmini favorites? Apparently not very well. Can’t speak for all of my teammates, but I know I had never felt so nervous before the start of a game. I don't know what happened. Despite how nervous I was, we all came out of that locker room excited energetic and determined to prove we deserved this. Then the game started and nothing was really going right, and then suddenly Gump has a 96 yard TD run. Despite the effort we gave rest of the game, I think we lost on that play. 2. You put up pretty insane stats early in the season that started to fade towards the end of the year. Do you attribute that to just setting the bar too high early in the season, other teams learning not to throw against your defense, or something else? Oh yeah, I definitely set a high bar at the start of the season. If you're not trying to make the bar as high as possible, then why are you out on that field? I definitely attribute the fade in stats to opponents adjusting their game plan. As I stopped getting turnovers, Vander Jones started getting turnovers. Then when teams started adjusting for both of us you see Bode and Berry getting a few interceptions. That is what a team is about though. Just one guy stepping up and saying this is where the bar is and can the rest of his teammates step up to make that bar even higher. 3. 89 is quite an unusual number for a safety. Can you tell us a bit about why you chose that number and if it has a special meaning to you? Ah yeah it is the age my grandpa died. Even to the end he still supported me and attended every single high school and college game I had. It was my 2nd year at Boise State that he passed away. Even though I was redshirted that first year, he would still fly to all of our away games. So I wear 89 to remember him. 4. Just about every team in the NSFL could use some help in their secondaries and will be looking for a future star player like you. What would you like to say to those teams to let them know why they should take over some of the other star DBs in this draft class? I want to be apart of a high energy defense. So I'm looking for a GM that plans to draft defense heavy the first few rounds. It'd be awesome to play along side other high energy players like Bode, Nero, Berry, or D'Attoria. 12) Sit-down with a fan: Written: Answer questions for an interview from a player that is not your own. You must answer at least four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. Link to the interviewers PT to receive credit. NOTE: THEY MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR YOU TO GET CREDIT. Duilio05's Post
2) Underdog
Tijuana shouldn’t be considered the underdogs going into this game, but Portland does boast the better record, and have home field advantage for the upcoming Ultimini. They also have some very talented players on both sides of the ball. But I reckon they’re still going to lose this game. Tijuana’s a group of real good guys, and we’re ready to band together like we never have before. Everyone on this team wants to win this Championship, it would mean so much for our season and this great organisation. As for home field advantage, the Marshall’s had that last week, and it didn’t help them much. I think people might’ve underestimated us, and guys have said that they’re not gonna underestimate us this week ‘cause of that, but I don’t know. Coach says we got some secrit plays up our sleeves and those snakes on the other side of the ball won’t see them comin’. Leadin’ into last week we did a lot of work on run blockin’ schemes and stuff, and it paid off. We had a plan that worked, and we’re ready with an even better plan for the Ultimini. The one thing I gotta say is that no one should be sleepin’ on the Luchadores. 4) Head to Head Matchups I’m gonna talk about two real talented people here, the first is the top TPE earner in the class, Emondov Emoji, the other is one of my teammates and a real nice guy, Rod Tidwell. Neither of them has really been the focus of their units, Emoji has been eclipsed by that amazin’ linebacker corps, and Tijuana has steadily shifted to a more run heavy offense. While Corvo Havran has had two big receiving options in Carlomango Rey and Tidwell, the clear number one has been Tidwell all season. ‘Cause of this, one of the best cornerbacks in the league is gonna be tryin’ to cover him like a blanket all game long. They may end up a little isolated if Portland stacks the box tryin’ to stop our runnin’ game as well. Emoji has been a force this season, with 14 passes defenced behind only Vander Jones and Willie Green in the league. Tidwell has also been very impressive, with the second most receiving yards in the league. I’ll admit I’m biased here, but I think Rod will still be able to put up an impressive showing, he’s been consistent all year, but he will have to be more creative than normal going up against someone so talented. 12. Sit Down with a Fan Link to interview 13) That Magic Moment Now, I really don’t like bein’ selfish or braggin’ too much, but it’s real tough to see the option to write about a magic moment and not talk about what I did in the SFC Championship. I want more than anything to help my team out, and when it’s a big game, everything matters a heck of a lot more. That’s why whenever we’re in a big game, I work that much harder. In this game’s case, I ran that much faster. We were on the front foot for most of the game really, but we knew we were gonna win when I ran in that 96-yard touchdown. I’d gotten a little bit faster between games, and I reckon that’s what really did the Marshall’s in on that run. It’s strange playin’ teams in back to back weeks, and they completely stifled me in the last game of the season. That extra step I got before that last game threw them off ‘cause they thought they knew where I was gonna be an when. Once my best good friends on the offensive line made their key blocks, I just had to keep on runnin’ past a few guys, and then remember to stop once I got in the end zone. Task 3) All about the QBs, Ultimini Edition: Armstrong vs Havran
There's going to be an interesting face off in the Ultimini this time in which an experience QB (Tijuana's Corvo Havran) gets to face a rookie that has been improving by each week (Portland’s Franklin Armstrong). Certainly both QBs were in the top 3 as far as statistics for the season goes, with Armstrong slightly topping what Havran did, posting an impressive showdown of 22 TDs, 2614 yds, 59.8 completion percentage and a rating of 86. But looking into the playoffs match ups, Havran did better against a tough San Antonio defense on the road with 156 yards and a TD; The whole Pythons offense struggled for 3 quarters against a good defensive scheme, in which Armstrong didn't have an impressive game but managed to end with 155 yards and 1 interception. So for the Ultimini, I'm excited to see if Havran is going to maintain his rhythm even though he faces yet another stacked defense; if his offensive line gives him enough protection, he will be able to make the most of it, plus he has the advantage of a good running system with Gump and co. For Armstrong, is all about minimizing mistakes; if he can complete short and medium passes to move the chains and put some points early on the game, he’ll make it easier for his defense to shine. No matter what the outcome of the game is, expect an intense QB battle in which I'll give the edge to Havran, who has the weapons and Ultimini experience to bring once again the trophy back home. Code: 261 Words Task 1) Playoff Review: Philadelphia Liberty vs Baltimore Hawks Baltimore came into this game confident that they will come out with a victory, after all they destroyed Liberty in week 14 by a score of 52-17. So with home advantage, the Hawks started hot with a Brian Mills’ sack in Philadelphia’s first offensive drive; after some short passes from Gambino and little runs by Brown, they capitalized a long drive with a 10 yard touchdown pass to Maddox. Liberty got a chance to tie the game with a 44 yard pass to von Matt, but they couldn't convert a 3rd and 7 on Baltimore’s 8 yard and had to settle with a field goal. In the second quarter, after Falconi threw another long pass to von Matt and got close to the endzone, she scored a touchdown with an 8 yard pass to Batoff. It took at least 2 more offensive drives for the Hawks to answer back with a 4 yard run touchdown by Brown. The first half came to an end without much more done by both offenses and the game was 14-10 with Baltimore ahead. On the second half of the game, things went very well for Liberty’s offense. After a slow start on the third quarter for both teams, at 9:22 Brown found the endzone again and put the Hawks ahead 21-10. But Falconi refused to give up after 3 sacks and threw a 1 yard pass to Davenport. By the start of the fourth quarter, Baltimore wanted to finish things with a 7 yard pass touchdown to Squanch. Again, Falconi tried to score back but didn't succeed and team decided to go for a 55 yard field goal; to the surprise of everyone, Fulture made it and this just boosted the Liberty’s moral. Their defense went on to sack Gambino 2 times and left the Hawks out of the Ultimus with another touchdown pass to Batoff and a winning 32 yard field goal by Fulture (final 31-28 score). Too bad for Baltimore that had a golden opportunity to capitalize the good season they had; but Liberty's QB Falconi decided to give one of her best performances and earned the offensive player of the game honor with 25/34 passes completed, 394 yds, 3 TD and 0 interceptions. Code: 374 Words Task 5) Spotlight on Youth: Spencer Castle, CB San Jose Sabercats not only find themselves as S14 Ultimus champions because of an excellent performance from QB Joliet L. Christ during the season, the defense was another factor for their success since they appeared when it mattered the most. One of the players that contributed in this aspect was young cornerback Spencer Castle. During the regular season, Castle played 14 games in which he had a total of 58 tackles and 23 passes defended, this last stat was the best for an individual performance in S14; even though he couldn't produce an interception, the kid got thrown into the fire and he was ready to face it. Castle definitely saved his best showing for the playoffs; in the first game against the Otters, he finished with 6 tackles, 1 pass defended and a very important interception during the fourth quarter with 3:36 minutes remaining which helped the team to win their first ever playoff game. In the Ultimus, Spencer had again 6 tackles and 1 pass defended; during the second quarter he made a key interception in Philadelphia’s territory which allowed the Sabercats to score a touchdown and finish the first half one point behind Liberty. All this must be a great source of inspiration for Castle, who will look to become one of the best cornerbacks for San Jose and the league. Code: 225 Words Task 7) Next year, Norfolk Edition It was a closed playoff game between the SeaWolves and the Pythons, just a 3 point difference (16-13). Norfolk managed to secure a playoff spot in spite of being an expansion team full of rookies. And it really fought for the win until a late pick six and a FG in the fourth quarter. I think next season the SeaWolves can make it all the way to the Ultimini, they have a good amount of active players on both offense and defense so having another successful draft will only help the team fill in some key position needs, combined with those players that will stay for S15. If Norfolk comes out of the draft with an active LB, DL, TE or another WR, the offensive side will have enough weapons which will help with the slow performance that usually troubled the team during the season (stats showed that the team ended up in 4th place for receiving yards and the lowest completion percentage of 53.8 compared to the running game that was also the 4th place in yards with a excellent 5.3 avg per attempt). Plus, there's the momentum gained from all the achievements accomplished in S14, coupled with losing to a division rival during the playoffs, will only make everyone fired up to return in better shape. 1) Playoff Predictions
I believe that Portland will defeat Tijuana in the Ultimini. Franklin Armstrong was so good this year and he is my pick for MVP, as he broke the passing TD record and the rest of Portland's offense is very solid. They have a versatile rushing attack, with 3 runningbacks over 450 yards for the season. Defensively, Portland has one of the best linebacking cores in the DSFL with 2 send downs in Leighton Lee and Gekyume Stokeley anchoring the defense. The secondary has a probable top 5 pick in Emondov Emoji and Richard D'Attoria V who is a top 3 safety prospect in terms of TPE. The Pythons have proven that they can beat the Luchadores with a 41-0 demolishment in week one. I believe that Portland has the talent and ability to beat Tijuana. Tijuana has Corvo Havran who was probably the 3rd best QB this season, but Armstrong outperformed him by miles. The Luchadores in general however just have less TPE than the Pythons. Their biggest chance is by utilizing the strong run game behind the great wall of Tijuana. But even then, with the linebackers on the Pythons, the run game may not be able to get going. I think Portland wins 31-24. 7) Next Year Palm Beach has a strong chance at the Ultimini nect season. @PDXBaller and @dizzyDC are great GMs and they helped a lot of players stay active. Just within one season Palm Beach went from last in total TPE by a couple hundred, to being about middle of the pack. With that level of improvement they will be one of the top teams next season. It would also be truly special for them to win an Ultimini as it would be their last season before reverting back to a bot team. If we get some good send downs then there's a serious chance to contend. Palm Beach also shouldn't even have been as bad as we were this season because our scrambling quarterback wasn't able to run in the sim. Apollo Lange is active and wants to improve and he'll have a chance to be at max TPE at some point next year and that's going to give the Solar Bears a more dynamic offense as opposed to just Bortboy and Bigby. We also have great locker room chemistry and that leads to more activity and updating. Palm Beach will be a serious contender next season and they probably could've been in the playoff race up until the end if Lange was allowed to run in the sim. 11) Sit Down With a Star (Chase Jensen) 1. How does your experience with basketball affect your play style? "Wow someone is doing a deep dive to find my basketball history. I thinks kg playing basketball helped me gain a little bit of shiftiness in my game which something not a lot of tight ends have. I might try to throw out little juke or side step every now and then and I think that comes from those early days of basketball." 2. What NSFL player do you look up to the most? "Probably L'Alto of all the current players in the NSFL. That guy just goes out there and gives it his all every single game. Stats aren't everything to me but I think most people wouldn't be telling the truth if they said they didn't want to produce like him." 3. Would you come abck for a role with the Solar Bears after you retire? "If the solar bears would have me I would love to come back as a tight end coach or something. Hell maybe just even as a mentor role of some sorts. I've loved my time in Palm Beach so far and it sucks that it will be coming to an end relatively soon." 4. What is the best dessert? "My personal favorite desserts are apple pie or cheesecake. It would be pretty damn hard for me to pick between those two things. Hell I might put a little slice of both in my plate after dinner. Let's get crazy with it." 14) Going to Disneyland The Ultimini didn't really have a performance that stood out as above the rest. It was a great team performance from Portland. The Python's runningbacks should honestly win a collective MVP with their 238 combined yards and a TD. They also all went over 5 YPC. But if I had to choose one individual to send to Disneyland, which I do, I would probably pick Franklin Armstrong. He had 3 touchdowns and despite his 3 interceptions he had a 83.8 QB rating which is somehow below his season average. That went along with his 247 yards and 70% completion rate. Outside of the interceptions this was a near perfect game for Armstrong. The other individual contender for MVP is NA Rkansas who is a bot player so he doesn't even count. And I think the Pythons would win without Rkansas, and they'd have no chance without Franklin Armstrong. Armstrong had the most influence on this Portland victory by far. Armstrong deserves to go to Disneyland with his family. Since he's from Canada I'm going to assume he's never been to Disney and so he's probably enjoying the park a lot. Armstrong and his family did their best to get on every ride and go to as many attractions as possible.

1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews
I'm going to be reviewing the DSFL championship matchup between the Tijuana Luchadores and the Portland Pythons. This game was close for almost all of the game. Portland led in nearly every statistical category. The one that really stands out is the 3rd down efficiency. Portland was 8/10, which let them sustain drives down the field longer. Tijuana was just 3/12, and I think a lot of the credit can got to the Python defense which really held their own on 3rd down. The final score was 34-20, with the Pythons taking the victory. The Pythons really controlled the tempo in this game, and pulled ahead in the 4th quarter. All three of their running backs had a lot of success against the Luchadores. The trio of Smallwood-Chess, Arkansas, and Stronglegs were each at around 80 yards rushing with a pretty even 15 carries each. The Luchadores lack of receiving depth on the other hand, really limited their offense. Tidwell and Rey had decent performances, but it required a lot of volume. Ridley and Emoji were excellent at locking these two down, especially on third and long situations. All in all, this was a very entertaining game, which required a couple late scores by the Pythons for them to seal the victory. The Luchadores can hold their heads high, as not many had them in the final game to begin with. The Pythons were loaded on both sides of the ball, but they played them very well all things considered. 7) Next year The Solar Bears season was somewhat disappointing. We ended up 3-11, which was the second worst record in the league. There are a couple of reasons why I think the Solar Bears could win the Ultimini next year. 1: Apollo Lange will have another year under his belt. Apollo struggled this year, partially because of him being a first year QB, and partly because his mobile QB was not properly set up in the sim. The Solar Bears will be able to utilize him in the pocket better next year, which will make it easier to move the ball down the field. 2: The Solar Bears were an expansion team, meaning we had to start from scratch, and had no high TPE send downs like some of the other teams. It's safe to assume that several players from this year will be back, whether due to being send down for a year, or being drafted by one of the two expansion teams. This will allow the team to have some 250 TPE cap players that can make a huge difference on both sides of the ball. While the team will no doubt lose some players this year, the players that stay back will have a huge edge against the players coming into the league this year. These factors will combine to give the Solar Bears a much better chance of being a competitive team this year. 15) Unsung Hero The unsung hero of the playoffs for me, is Xerxes Ridley. The DB of the Pythons. While he didn't have any splashy stats, he was rock-solid in covering the Tijuana and Norfolk receivers. In the first game, Ahri and Landers had nice games. They combined for almost 200 yards, but the Pythons used more of a bend but don't break defense. The Seawolves could not capitalize on drives., as evidenced by them scoring only one touchdown. Xerxes did a nice job of keeping the receivers in front of them, and not giving up the big play, as they were able to squeak out a win and avoid the upset. In the championship game, the Portland Pythons used a similar strategy. Carlamagno Rey and Rod Tidwell combined for less than 150 yards, and the other options were extremely limited. The Luchadores had a little more success scoring, but that came from the running game. Ridley and Emoji were able to contribute to one of Corvo Havran's worst games of the season, where he only threw for 159 yards, and zero touchdowns. Xerxes Ridley was an anchor on the defense of this championship team, and he's getting overlooked quite a bit just because he didn't have the flashy numbers. Look for him to continue his success in the NSFL this upcoming season. 3) All about the QBs I'm going to examine the QB matchup in the championship game between the Tijuana Luchadores and the Portland Pythons. Franklin Armstrong is the 1st year QB who lit up the league, and Corvo Havran was the #2 pick in the NSFL last year, who played another season in the DSFL. Let's start with Armstrong's performance. He was taking all the risks in this game. It paid dividends on some throws, and cost him on others. He finished with 247 yards to go with three touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Pythons had a lot of faith in their QB to let him sling it around this much in the biggest game of the season. He showed them he's not afraid to take some shots down the field, and they get the W by letting him play his style. Corvo on the other hand, really had a down day for his standards. He failed to find the endzone, and only ended up with around 150 yards. A lot of this can be attributed to the Pythons pass rush, which really bothered him all game. Corvo will be a stud in the NSFL, but he'll probably look back on this performance with some regrets. I'm sure he'll be able to more than make up for it with some success at the next level, but for now Armstrong got the best of him.

Maybe I was spoiled by the fact that I won an Ultimus in my first pro season, but it's not hard to see why I feel like the Otters can win it all again in Season 15. I mean, this team is still stacked. We've got an incredibly solid core on both sides of the ball who are very active and motivated to continue the Otters unprecedented playoff appearances record. Also, we have no new players entering regression this season, which is huge for us. Many other teams will be regressing new players, but the Otters will stay as close to in prime condition as is possible season to season. Finally, I feel like we have some of the best team leadership in the league. Big shout out to @speculadora on this one. He's a great GM and an even better dude in general. I love playing for him, and I know that a lot of the others in the locker room feel the same. We're a pretty close knit team, and our singular goal is to get back to that Ultimus game next season. This is me putting the rest of the league on notice: the Otters are gonna be back. Code: 215 words 4. Rivalries The greatest rivalry currently in the NSFL and the one that most concerns me is the one between my Orange County Otters and the San Jose Sabercats. I have to listen to a lot of nonsense from many of the Derpcats who I'm close to. Yeah, they got the best of us in this postseason, but that by no means makes them a great football team. They're overrated and they know it. They went 9-5 this season, with some pretty questionable losses. They got beat by both the 4-10 New Orleans Secondline and the 4-10 Colorado Yeti. They had some other close calls that could have just as easily been losses, like in week fourteen when they beat the Yellowknife Wraiths by a single field goal. Let's take a quick look at their roster, shall we? Their quarterback Joliet Christ is surprisingly not a complete waste of space. He had the second least number of interceptions and the second highest completion percentage. He also threw the least passes of any quarterback, so maybe it evens out. Despite how little they passed, Jarrod Canton, their running back, managed to do very little with what he was given. He had the fourth highest total of rushing yards, and had less rushing scores than one of the league's quarterbacks. To put it frankly, the Derpcats are bums and I don't care who knows it. Code: 231 words Quote:Going to Disneyland!:Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game) Neo Donaldson gets to go to fucking Disneyland, wooptie fucking doo. So he gets to fly all the way from the San Jose, California to Florida and goes to the most magical place on earth and you will never guess who he gets to fucking meet when he got there. All his favorite charachters from all his favorite disney movies, charchters like, the little mermaid, Donald Duck, Goofy, Princess Jasmine, Buzz Lightyears, Thumper from the bambi movies, Huey, Dewey, but not louie, because his actor had the flu and stayed at home sick and they couldnt find someone to replace the actor, Captain Hook, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Toulouse, Mister Smee, Dopey, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Evil Queen, Gus Gus, Fairy Godmother, Pinocchio from the 1940 film named Pinocchio, Honest John and also Gideon, Queen Elinor, Flynn Rider, Baloo, Simba, Robin Hood, Sherrif of Nottingham, Pongo, Winnie the Pooh, Kanga & Roo, Li Shang, Belle and the Beast, Timothy Q Mouse, Esmeralda, Lilo and Stitch and even Zazu from the Lion King movies. It was truely a wonderful day for Neo Donaldson and his whole family who he had brought along with him on this magical journey. Neo Donaldson sure hopes he can become MVP next year again so he can go again. Quote:3) All about the QBs The conferance final of the DSFL SFC division saw the battle between S14 NSFL draftees Corvo Havran and Cooter Bigsby. One drafted first overall by the Yellowknife Wraiths and playing for the San Antonio Marshals and the other drafted second overall by the Baltimore Hawks playing for the Tijuana Luchadores.. A battle between two masterminds quarterbacks. The San Antonio Marshals had the better season of the two teams, having an almost perfect season going 13-1 and the Luchadores getting in the playoffs with a mediocore 8-6 record. Between the two quarterbacks we see that Cooter Bigsby had the better regular season having 233 completions on 362 attempts being a 64.4 completion percentage. Recording 2276 yards with 18 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a rating of quarterback rating of 85.8. Corvo Havran went 277 completions on 441 attempts for a 62.8 completion percentage. Recording 2700 yards with 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 78.8. One would expect Cooter Bigsby to have the better game here, due to having a very dominant regular season. Havran had a decent season ending second in completion percentage, tied 3rd for touchdowns and first in attempts, completions and yards. Bigsby finished second in touchdowns, first in completion percentage 3rd in completions and 6th in attempts. Bigsby had an absolute stunning performance in the conference final, completing 18 on 27 attempts. With 3 touchdowns and 1 interception for a final rating of 103.3! Havran went 17 for 31 with a single touchdown recording a final rating of 79.5 However at the end of it all Tijuana ended up winning the game with a solid 30-21 away win. Quote:11) Sit-down with a star Interview with the great Marquise Brown aka @YoungTB How did it feel to lose to your former team in the NSFC conference final? Not gonna lie, it stung. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy my former team made the Ultimus but seeing such a high caliber team like ours lose in such a heartbreaking fashion really sucked. Looking back at your performance in the NSFC conference final, how did you think you played? I think I played great as always. I gave my 100% effort out there, and while it didn’t translate into a win, I’m proud of how I played. I just gotta keep moving forward. Do you think that if you had staying in Philadelphia this year you could have been the difference between an upset final appereance and a cup? That’s tough to answer. Shit happens and it’s tough to say what would have been the case had I stayed in Philly. I don’t like to dwell on my past moves, but I want to continue making moves that are right for me and my future. Looking at next year do you think the Hawks have what it takes to go back into the playoffs and get a cup? Of course. This team is filled with talent and I’m lucky to be a part of it. I’m 100% confident we’ll be back next year and win it all. Quote:12) Sit-down with a fan: http://nsfl.jcink.net/index.php?showtopic=...ndpost&p=189505

Code: 1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews: The Ultimus matchup promised to be a ferocious showdown that could go either way; the teams were very evenly matched, with both the Liberty and SaberCats possessing 9-5-0 records in the regular season. And after the first quarter, it certainly looked like this one would come down to the wire; both teams managed just three points, quite the sluggish start. The second half though, was more promising in terms of action, as the Liberty tallied 14 points and the SaberCats 13; the SaberCats were down by 1, but they were hardly trailing at all. They knew they could shift the momentum in the third quarter, and that's exactly what they did. Thanks to a valiant defensive effort, they shut the Liberty out in the third quarter while adding 10 points to their own total. All that was left to do was hold down the fort in the fourth and final quarter, but rather than just sit back, they were able to add three points to their lead, as they scored 10 points compared to the Liberty's 7. Just like that, it was over, and the San Jose SaberCats were crowned the league champions. It turns out that one disproportionate quarter was all that was needed to tip the balance. Final score 36-24 San Jose. 4. Code: 5) Spotlight on Youth - Only task that is specifically for the NSFL and not DSFL |
