Fuzzy Dotson had visited and checked in at the Liberty facilities a couple times previously, but S19 is the time when he has finally been called up. He'll get the whole pre-season week to get more familiar with Philadelphia and everyone on the team.
So after finally securing an apartment for him and his pet turtle Salmonella, he decided to call up his Tijuana buddy Thudd Kassel. No answer. Next he figures he should call his running back companion Sam Torensen. No answer. Hmm ok well Fuzzy knows that Baxter Frost is big into civil war reenactments, so he's booked for the whole week. Jake Dropson & Zach Hall have just been named the new bosses for the Liberty so they are busy doing managerial duties, having meetings, drinking expensive champagne, hitting the 18-hole fairways, etc etc. Mike Franchet will be downing some spicy whiskey somewhere at whatever odd hour. There are other players he vaguely knows, but at this point, Mr. Dotson thinks he should go and explore the city himself. See what it has to offer. After meandering around and treking all the way up and down Chestnut Street, Dotson found a nice park with a basketball court and a swing set. It was time to do what Fuzzy loves to do most, and that is chilling out. And also maxin and relaxin. And to do this all cool. And Fuzzy figures he should also shoot some b-ball outside of the school. What happened in the offseason was that Dick Wizardry decided he was getting too old for this shit. After a middling RB career turned above average Dline stint on a team that was still moving in the right direction, the Dickster decided to make the coming year his last. He quietly informed his GMs about it well ahead of time, like you do, and he prepared to work his final season. He began working with the scout teams and coaching staff in order to better prep himself for life after his playing career. Dietary changes, exercise routines that would be wildly different, and no one hitting him constantly.
And then he got a phone call and changed all that and decided people would be hitting him constantly. In his new line of work. But that would come at the end of the season. For now, he was focused on trying to be the best player he could and leading his unit by example and by his knowledge. All the while Dick was also not so quietly soaking up all the wisdom and knowledge from the coaches as he was told there would be a spot on the coaching staff for him once his playing days were over (even with the future secondary career on the horizon). Also he fucked Cooter Bigsby's mom.
After a rough season my teammate and I decided to do some team bonding, and what better way than a race across the work! The way it work is that we split in pair, we given $5000 dollar and then had to race from Austin to the Falkland Islands off the tip off of Argentina. The only rules were we could only use the $5000 we were given and we were not allowed to use commercial airlines or our own personal al vehicles. We gathered at the snake pit where we pair up (I was pair with our tight end Peter Larson) then we set off, all of running like loons!
It was a crazy off season caper, that had many twists and turns in it, Wizardary and D'anoi got lost for a large period of time on the Amazon, Owens and Ennis disappeared entirely only to show up at different NSFL team (the sneaky gets). Larson and I came second but lost out by a matter of hours to Lavelle and Jensen who rather than take a commercial ferry on the last leg had managed to persuade a local fisherman to get them to the finishing point. It was an epic journey that I can not fully explain here, however once I retire I may try and make it into a film! That is my off season anyway. (WC 229) |
