The team that hosts the Ultimus has to be in a city where the weather is pretty good. This immediately will eliminate: New York, Yellowknife, Philadelphia, Colorado, Chicago, Berlin, Arizona and Baltimore. Some might say Arizona is perfect but I disagree, it can get cold at night in the desert. There might be some wiggle room for these guys to get maybe one game in the history of the league, but the Ultimus needs to be somewhere with the sun shining bright, or at least where the air doesn’t hurt your face in February. In terms of the city that could throw the biggest party, New Orleans gets the advantage. For the location with the best weather? Easily this is Sarasota. I think that if the league were to pick a city to host, it should be New Orleans because the Second Line have been around long enough now and deserve to host an Ultimus. The atmosphere that city creates combined with the tremendous on-field product that the ISFL would put out there and it would be a win for all parties involved. The halftime show would be headlined by the holograms of Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, and Dr. John as a tribute to the host city. We figure at this point, we should just go forward with these holograms no matter what. They’ll catch on, just like 3D TVs did.

I think Minnesota would actually be a good spot to host the Ultimus. Yeah, they’re a DSFL team and the stadium may not be quite as big as an ISFL stadium; but the Quack Shack is always packed. The guys on the Grey Ducks squad also need next to no reason to party so they’d throw a bash for a big championship game. The Quack Shack was recently upgraded (I don’t know how they found the budget) with state of the art amenities such as tablets built into the back of the seats (everyone gets one except sideline seating) with live feeds from every angle. They’ve got 5G in the building, plus each section gets its own WiFi hotspot. Again, I have no idea how Minnesota could afford this. My guess is an underground cocaine operation, but it could be a grant from the city. The field was also renovated with heat underneath to keep any snow from sticking. The stadium also has the latest in pyrotechnics and speaker sound systems. The city is a wonderful place, too. Even in the dead of winter, Minneapolis is always buzzing with people, venders, buskers, and events. I think it would be a fun curve ball to have a DSFL franchise host the big league game and could lead to more money being put into the DSFL for other teams to follow suit.
As much as decking out Portland for an Ultimini would be, especially if we are around again, I can't say it would be my preferred destination, if that makes sense. Of course, Calgary could be cool as well for Miller, but let's be real, that is a terrible damn spot to host either the Ultimus or Ultimini.
So, I have decided that if I were to choose where the Ultimini were to be held, it would be in somewhere memorable, incredible, just overall nuts.
Basically, the Ultimini would play on the moon, and the Ultimus would play on Mars. The details definitely still need some ironing out, but imagine. Man made anti-gravity domes to play in, beautiful landscape, no risk of COVID because a bubble that supplies oxygen is one that the players need to stay in. There also would not be anyone else there, so I see it as nothing but good.
This would also serve as an insanely cool publicity stunt, I mean, football on the moon? Let alone for a league? Playoffs? Finals? That'll grab the attention of anybody, whether they give a damn about football or not. The only downfall would be is that for centuries the game will be looked at under a microscope, but I still see that as only a good thing. It means it'll be remembered. I think this is something the ISFL/DSFL need to seriously consider for this upcoming Ultimus/Ultimini games.
If I could put the Ultimus in any one city in the world I think I would have to look to the location of our newest expansion and put the game in Europe. The main reason is to award the ISFLs newest fan base with the ability to watch our biggest game. I don't think I would award the game to Berlin however, instead I would like to put the game in Barcelona. The first factor that works for Barcelona is simply the capacity to have the big game at Camp Nou. There is so much history at that stadium with all the championships won by FC Barcelona and to have the biggest ISFL stars share a field that some of the all time greats played on would be amazing. Outside of the actual stadium the city itself is wonderful. It has hosted many large events before and would have no problem having our leagues' fans from all over the world flock to the city. Finally, being in Europe allows for the players to enjoy a trip to a new area. After the game they can simply head to the beaches of Greece or take their family to tour other major cities rather than coming straight back to the United States. Overall I see Barcelona as an ideal choice for the big game.
If I had full authority to choose the location of the Ultimus and Ultimini games, I would shamelessly choose my first home in this league, Tijuana.Tijuana hits multiple checkmarks that I think would make a great place to host the championship games. First and foremost, the weather makes it an ideal destination. Regardless of whether the Ultimus and Ultimini are held year round like in real life, or if we assume that they are actually held beginning of February like the real super bowl, Tijuana has a favorable climate year round. On average, the daily high for Tijuana is 80 degrees Fahrenheit at its peak, and stays as high as 66 degrees Fahrenheit during the coldest months, such as February. On top of that, despite the temperature dip Tijuana sees relatively little rain. The average is about 5 days and 2.1 inches of rain during its wettest month of the year. This gives a great chance for a sunny, temperate day. Ideal conditions for hosting the big game. On top of that, given the international nature of the league, Tijuana offers an exciting opportunity to celebrate Mexican heritage in the home stadium of the only Latin American team in the league, with endless options for halftime shows including mariachi bands, the Luchadores namesake in Lucha Libre, and really any other seasonal celebrations that may be going on around the time the championship is being held.
