Sal “The Butcher” Ami is a the perfect fit for your franchise. Don’t believe me? Continue reading and watch as all the doubts slowly disappear. Before diving into all the specifics on what makes Sal a great draft choice, lets talk about what makes any other great draft choice. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few things (in no particular order):
1) Personality and Impact on the Locker room
2) TPE and $ Earning
3) Overall Activity
4) Motivation
These may not be the 4 top things teams are looking for. But players that grade out well in these areas are sure to impress and have a lasting impact in a locker room. Below is where I feel that Sal fits:
Personality & Impact on the locker room
In college Sal was known as the people’s champion. People would travel from far and wide to see Sal. But this section isn’t about Sal on the football field, this section is about Sal away from the gridiron. Defenders feared him on the field but buffets and restaurant owners feared him off the field. Sal is known for having a big appetite and could clear out buffets all by himself. Teammates have enjoyed Sal on their team because of his fun personality and also his positivity. Sal has not backed down from a Twitter fight whenever someone calls out the bad season that Norfolk has had (hello Ice Bear). Overall if you’re looking for someone who is a fun and positive person, then look no further than the Butcher!
TPE and $ Earning
Sal has been a top TPE earner since he began is sim career. Sal was first told about the ISFL by his good friend in real life, Ice Bear. What began as an ISFL/DSFL mentorship quickly escalated into a rivalry from the two friends. Sal has committed to always being a top earner and uses Ice Bear being so far ahead on the TPE scale as motivation. If Ice Bear ever slacks a little on his TPE, Sal will be there gaining on him. To fulfill max earner status requires making some money. Equipment and training are extremely expensive but are necessary to be a fast earner and early contributor. To afford the expenses that come with being a baller, Sal Tweets a lot. Probably too much in fact. But getting paid to Tweet is something Sal enjoys doing. Media articles are also something Sal has dabbled in and will continue to expand on to get more $ for spending.
Every Week Sal does all and will always do the easy TPE gains. Weekly trainings, articles, predictions etc are a cake walk for Sal and you can depend on him getting the steady gains that come from those.
Overall Activity
Sal is going to be a joy for your locker room. You may be thinking that recreates are the safest draft choices. 9 times out of 10 you are probably correct with this assumption. Sal Ami falls in that 1 out of 10 spot that makes him the safest choice possible. Newer users may get bored and not be as active in the locker rooms, game days or when it comes to earning. Recreates have a history of activity but you risk them getting burnt out or being stuck In a box and not as cooperative. When it comes to Sal, you don’t have to worry about any of these things. Sal is a very active member and TPE earner. Have a question? Shoot him a message and he will respond. Need someone to help mentor new comers? Sal is your man. Need Sal to switch positions to make the team successful? Sal is there (no OL though). Sal is a family man so most active in the evenings but this is one player on your draft boards who you can comfortably have absolutely no worries about.
Motivation
Sal’s goal is to be the best. Sal is motivated to be a top contributor for any franchise that could use one. Going beyond being a player, Sal has career aspirations within the Sim. Sal is hoping that he can parlay his illustrious playing career on the field, to one that is successful off the field. One day he wants to be the GM of a team. Scouting is a major area of interest and one that Sal will be tapping into in the near future. Every GM needs reliable people to help in the war room and Sal can be that guy. At the end of the day, he wants to win, and have fun and that is what motivates him. Also as previously mentioned, Sal loves food and with his appetite, meals aren’t cheap. So He has to stay motivated so he can keep up with and afford his buffet clearing hunger.
A Look back at Sal’s rookie year in the DSFL
Sal didn’t get off to quite the start in the DSFL like he had hoped. Playing the most important position in football, 3rd string tight end, presented quite a few challenges for the Butcher. Instead of carving up defenses, he found himself being a positive light in the locker room and contributing when needed. With 1 game left on the schedule, Sal has 31 receptions for 387 yards 3 touchdowns. To his credit, he does have a highlight 66 yard score to break a tie a few weeks ago. Playing behind two future hall of famers (in my opinion) has been eye opening and only increased the amount of knowledge Sal has. On the blocking side of things, Sal has been stellar. He has 10 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed through the season.
Recently Sal talked with GM Negs about scouting for the team, and it appears that may be something that happens sooner than later. Hopefully we are able to make an impact in this department and make a positive impact on the future of Norfolk.
Conclusion
If you have read to this point, I say thank you. If you are a GM, scout, etc and have some say so within your draft departments, make sure Sal is at the top of your boards. This is a special opportunity for you, not just Sal. You have the chance to make a franchise altering selection. One that has the chance to make you a hall of famer as a scout or GM. People get statues built for them after finding diamonds in the rough like this. Sal may not have the history or timeline that some of the other players do, but don’t let that scare you away .
To this point, many teams have reached out and spent time having conversations with Sal. These have been extremely enjoyable. Some of been detail oriented and some have been really light hearted. While a majority of teams have reached out and scouted Sal, not all of them have. If you are reading this and are among the teams that haven’t yet reached out, there is no better time then now to do so! The draft us right around the corner so when your team is on the clock, make sure you select Sal “the Butcher” Ami for your team!
