I would be sorely resmiss to not start off my positive vibes comment with the user who ultimately is responsible for my ISFL career starting off as hot as it has, Colorado Yeti GM @Sylphreni. I first talked to Syl during my pre-draft cycle of ISFL GMs poking and prodding to see what type of user I would be. We had the typical pre-draft questions to go through and then we had more specific conversations about TPE, the Yeti roster and team drafting philosophy, along with a rough evaluation of my player to that point. True to his word, Syl picked me in the second round just like he said he would if I fell that far and helped talk me through what a contract is supposed to look like and how to best get what I wanted out of it, which was super helpful since I never thought to ask about contracts before I was supposed to be signing one. Then about midway through my DSFL build up year Syl approached me about a possible position switch to help my player see the field faster (and help the team as well). He was very clear that it would be my and only my choice if I wanted to pursue the switch which was very comforting in the fact that the GM was more concerned about my playing experience than the team he was assembling on the field. This was also around the time he encouraged me to be more active in the Yeti discord channels so that I could meet some of my fellow players and let them see my personality to put with the player name. But as much as I appreciate Syl for helping me start out and giving me a positive experience in the league, now the time has finally come where I must destroy Syl, as the fates would have it we are in the same fantasy football group this year, so game on Syl
I cannot stress enough how much I love my experiences so far in ISFL. Various folks and figures that I have met throughout shaped how I am today as a DSFL GM. That being said:
@J0EB @Blasoon Both of you. Yes, both of you. You both were my gateway to Norfolk, and you had convinced me along with others that Norfolk is my forever home, even after I got drafted into the ISFL. You never pushed or shy away from encouraging me to do better, and you never stopped me from interacting with you both along with some other folks that I will mention......... right about now! @IsaStarcrossed @SchwarzNarr If I had to say who was my mentors throughout my time in the ISFL, it would be Joey, Blas, and you both. Schwarrz first, because honestly, I don't think I would've never got this far without your help and guidance. Alongside the rest of the S25 rookies, you were more than accommodating for us, helping us along the way. You encourage me to go for graphics, media, and jobs that I would've never dared. You helped me during multiple of my rough times and I will forever be indebted to you because of that. @IsaStarcrossed. I would always take your knowledge of the league for granted. Along the way from a rookie TMo to my guiding GM mentor, you were there every step of the way. You became a voice of reason when there wasn't any within, and I'm grateful. @Dewalt27 @Highhaschdi @Swanty Both of you gave me a chance on creating a culture in a new team. You made me captain. You, Swanty, and a lot of other Berlin members helped me in gelling ourselves and each other as a cohesive unit. While I have been silent and inactive due to my GM responsibilities, I hope I will pay you back with my activity this season, hopefully. @LancedJack @Jimi64 @ConnorM123 My god. Look at us three. We all got roped into this mess and while we went on our separate way, Norfolk has always been our unifying identity. We took league jobs. We became GMs. We became players within our own rights. Let's take that next step forward, baby. S25 for life. @Tesla You are the single purest, ray of sunshine. Your words are always a needed respite whenever I feel down. You are positivity in form of a human being. @negs LET'S GET IT NEW NORFOLK GMS FOR LIFE LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I would like to shout out two my two current GMs @ckroyal92 and @matty7478. The main reason I want to select these two are the atmosphere they have cultivated within our Sabercat locker room. When I first moved from the DSFL to the ISFL, I was worried that I would not keep that friendly environment that I had back down in the Myrtle Beach Locker room. Instead, I somehow found an even better experience. The locker room is the friendliest place I have been and I will not be shy in saying that is the work of our GMs. They do a fantastic job keeping us positive through the ups and downs and checking in on us as not just players, but the user behind the player as well. I am not the most active member of chat, but I do love going through and seeing a group of people supporting each other, laughing and joking around. It makes the San Jose locker room a very special place for me. I even like going through all the chat on MLB the show even if I have no idea what is going on with the teams they are building. The atmosphere created by this team is special and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
The other person I would like to call out is @Buttersqauch101. I did not know him before he joined our team last offseason, but he has been a seamless addition to our locker room. I look forward to game days where I know he will be watching and we can complain together about our lack of targets and drops. I hope he will sign a long term contract here as he is loved by a large portion of our locker room which is supported by the fact he was elected captain after joining the team last season. Now if we could only get him the ball some more.
Here we are Ultimus Week PT I have to say I personally think this is an insanely cringey piece to do but I want to get max build TPE as soon as possible and I cannot pass up this chance to gain an extra 5. I guess I should start off by thanking the big moron @Asked Madden" for introducing me to the joys of simulation football. I can safely say if it was not for him I would not be here speaking to people from different countries and forging unlikely friendships.
I would like to thank @TheCC for keeping me entertained and not living up to the classic American stereotype. I do still hope to go to arrowhead with you. I just need to figure out how to make that happen. @"Ryan Negs"@ThunderTitan82thank you gentlemen for the early grey ducks phase. You definitely made my time with Minny Grey Ducks much more enjoyable. Negs you're a massive part of how I've earned so much TPE and you're fun to be around. Thunder not sure what you're doing but hope you're well. I'd like to thank my teammates in the Berlin Fire Salamanders for being so welcoming and opening to supporting each other. It truly is a great Locker Room @Swanty@Dewalt27 @Highhaschdi @"simo_393" I am aware I have missed some of my teammates here but I just don't know your forum username and I'm not invested enough to look them out. Finally I would like to thank my thick friends from the turtles without you three I would definitely not still be involved in this. Some of us may have jumped into this much more than others @ConnorM123 you big dork. @frazzle14 we have suffered covid at the same time I wonder if we both would have got it had we not cancelled our plans to meet up Last Saturday? Who knows... @ryd029aird13 I would also like to thank you for having such a freakishly large head, like it's fucking monsterours, how is that even possible?
There are many users I would like to thank. Not like majority of you, I have been in this league since the beginning. I joined before the league was even official. I joined the league when ballerstorm was setting everything up and I had no clue what he was doing but it worked well 30 seasons later. So yeah, I first would like to thank ballerstorm for DMing me and telling me to join the NSFL or ISFL and I did and then did nothing and told me to enjoy the views from my six. So ya, I was offered updater head but I passed.
I would like to thank ck for drafting me even though I was a bust and I just retired immediately because I had no money and I wanted to be the best when I wasn't even top 100. I would like to thank the yeti management in S6 for not drafting me or else I would have been a bust and I would have left the league again so I thank them. I would like to thank Bovo for lying to me. He said he would draft me and make me his QB for the team and then managed to draft soemone else and make himself the QB so I appreciate that, Bovo. I thank hendrix for drafting me and forcing me to change into a linebacker and make man an unanimous Hall of Fame player. I thank slm for getting me an ultimus trophy and making sure we dominate the shitty Philly Liberty who are possibly the ugliest looking franchise in the league right now. I would like to thank the Arizona Outlaws for drafting me and not make me a bottom tier pick because that would be shame. I absolutely need to thank Bayley and the Chicago Butchers for not making me a career minor player. And finally, I thank the Portland Pythons for making me a snake.
There are a ton of people that have been incredibly welcoming when coming into this league. I've had the opportunity to play for the two best teams in the ISFL and DSFL in the Philadelphia Liberty and the Tijuana Luchadores, both helped to solidify my passion for sim football.
When talking about people specifically, my GMs on both teams (past and present) were instrumental in my time spent involved in this league. Those GMs are @
Looking at this point task, it's a little hard not to just talk about the entire Norfolk locker room, since everyone there is always a joy when we watch on game day and have fun. Having S30 prospects here this time of year has also given me a great opportunity to see another side of the team when we're looking at incoming players. That being said, I've really got to talk about some key people at Norfolk, who do an excellent job at making it more fun for everyone and gets involved in everyone's experience.
First things first, negs is easily one of the most friendly and helpful people I've met in the league thus far. They're always our loudest cheerleader when Norfolk takes the field and it makes the experience so much more fun when you have someone there that's a whole hype train by themself. I always enjoy watching games with the team because it's impossible to not be happy, win or lose, with the energy they bring each and every day. They're also one of the most approachable people, and I never ever feel bad to go and ask them for help, because I know they'll answer it with a smile. They will also provide a word of encouragement out of nowhere, if I'm checking my stats or balance in the server negs will just pop out of nowhere and be super excited about what I have going on, and it's a big boost to morale if I start to lose some interest in the league. The second person has to be Haseo, who despite moving on from Norfolk this year was always a joy during gameday. They'd always be there to celebrate big plays no matter who made them, and was never a downer despite the results. Easily another massive cheerleader, Haseo would always be ready to congratulate a user when they made a big play, and was our number one fan that I could almost swear made our team better. You know when you're playing middle school sports and you hear your mom yell from the crowd "GO SWEETIE YOU CAN DO IT!!!" ? Yeah, that was Haseo. Loud and proud and always there with a compliment. Head up, move forward, and Haseo was a big reason why it was fun to come watch games even if our record left much to be desired. There was never a game day where it felt like a wasteland after the game, because even in a loss there was always these two that would be there to make sure we all felt good about our progress. Losing 39-0 felt like a close game since we would be able to laugh it off, and then be right back the next game to watch a tight match and declare it a win, citing our progress. negs and Haseo were easily my favorite reasons to just keep coming back, and it's why I look forward to continuing here in the league, to hopefully be that person for new users so that their experience may be as good as mine has so far.
Okay, positive gush moment. This is to be fair pretty easy considering how many great users there are on the website and in our community, and it has truely been special and lovely to be tagged in more posts than I expected to be, so thanks to everyone that tagged me.... should I?.. yeah! I am a huge believer in the power of reciprocity.
So here are all the amazing people who said something amazing about me recently. @UltimateYeehaw - the best badger in our community, hands down, my first real memory of them is playing fantasy with them, in a super late starting group and wrestling for the lead all season with them, but somehow I got lucky right at the end and finished number 1.... I am shocked she has time for me as a team-mate after that.. but I am glad as what a great teamie, and one of the people that listens to my podcast which is amazing :-) - great team mate, would highly recommend, everyone joins Baltimore so they can experience it to. @fever95 - Fellow Balitmore Dad, and one of those low key GREAT sim leaguers. Does their PTs their updates and follows the sim, and is active in the LRs that they are in. If everyone was like Fever this league would already have 20 teams and pressing expansion again soon. Basically the quintessential role-model Sim leaguer. @goodfortunecoffee - I dont know Fuzz that well yet, but we played each other at chess, and he is excited about doing a bestball NFL draft with me if I can get enough Baltimore people to make it work, so thats a win in two columes for me. Basically looking forward to getting to know them more and see what being a team mate with them is like. @Bigred1580 - Sometimes we talk and I think I am talking to myself. I always knew of bigred the user, and I was excited to hear such a high profile member had joined the dad ranks, but I never expected that he would actually live up to the hype. One of the chillest yet super active people in our Locker room, funny, kind, and dedicated, amazing person who I really wish I live on the same continent so there was a half chance of grabbing a beer one day. apologies for getting you into WoT, but also not really.. @Thor - Hey! the first person to get super excited about me re-creating in the ISFL, as a rookie mentor he even helped me figure out what numbers linebackers wear, he chose the 54 that I wear. But in all seriousness, I would not still be here probably if not for the fantastic LR that the MBB guys had built and fostered, great guy, good work stories, Aussie - but I guess you can't have a plus in every column, active and great to just shoot the shit with. Also a SHL goalie, so that speaks well for him. @JayWhy - My First SHL mentor, and one of the architects behind the amazing career that Peter Larson SHL goalie experienced. Fantastic writer and person to have in a LR, and I am super glad they have enjoyed joining the ISFL and hopefully enjoying being a player again, after a long stint as SHL simmer and then directly followed by a long and still current stint as a GM, I hope you are finding the ISFL is a great place to relax and re-enjoy Sim life. @Frick_Nasty - One of the Fab V with the Marshals, so like Shady one of the first people i spent time chatting to back when I first started out. been fantastic to re-connect as my "new" GM, and love the stories and memes and intensity that keeps you going and so glad to be on your team. Also cool that we both have two boys almost the same age. @Mooty99 - my former colleague who I recruited to the league, always nice to see those you recruit vastly outshine you :-D. was great being a copperhead with you all those seasons, so glad we got a ship together, and thanks for your backing and support when I was briefly one of the Baltimore interims. we need to do a "in the pub with Tomasnz and mooty" podcast restrictions are almost over, lets make it happen. @TheDangaZone - great user that I have known for a while from my SHL HO days when he was a GM, and ofcourse he is a GM again there to another team, like Jaywhy its always great to play with these gms from other leagues as just a player and see them relax and enjoy the LR with a little less at stake. Great team mate that I am looking forward to trying for a championship with. @Mojojojo - the shinning hope of my early Baltimore days (along with Starboy), my heart broke when you requested a trade, but I totally understood and was probably on a similar trajectory. Loved our transport chats and lol'd about the self dox. great to still have you around the LR and see you chiming in. @qWest - soooo... you didnt actually mention me in the PT, but you did say lovely things about me as part of the podcasting regulars, and that made my day, so I just wanted to say a big thank you for that, and I really enjoyed that weird mock we did back in S26. @shadyshoelace - one of the Fab V that welcomed me to the league in the SA Marshals LR, has been a cool team mate recently in Balitimore and has great taste in TV. @Memento Mori - GB boy, which is great as the more euros we have the better the league is, its a fact. but part of the crew in MBB who was so welcoming to me, and in particular super helpful and supportive to me when I was going through the interim GM stuff. thanks for that. I would say lets get a pint, but you moved awkwardly north... But also I should call out two really great users. @timeconsumer whom without I wouldnt have had such a great time getting into the league way back in S15 with the Marshals, and likewise @White Cornerback who I have been a team mate with almost solidly all the way since S16 (there might be one season when we werent). Both of these guys are league legends and the league might not exist if it hadnt been for either of them. Big thanks the above is a slim snapshot of all the people in our league that are amazing, and I am purposefully not tagging more people as the more I tag the more I will leave out. But I love this community, I love the Baltimore team and really enjoy all my interactions with people on this site and in the discords.
Where do I start with this. @Bigred1580 gave me same bullet points about nice things I can write about him. But I dont know, Iam his multi, so Iam not sure if that even counts. But I will start with me …ehem… I meant with him. So he is my counting buddy in the Baltimore lockerrom (but he got quite lazy in recent days). His favourtie emote is the HawkHug which he likes to give to people. He was the first GoldenHawk in locker room history, but he needed to spam the chat in order to get it smh. Plus he stole the title two times from @golden_apricot (Sexiest legs in ISFL btw). Locker room bully? He is also the god of dad jokes. He is better than goose with one hand than he is with two wings and a beak.
Which brings me to @infinitempg. Your offseason drama is top tier content. Dont worry, my previously made statement isnt true. I think you are at least as good as Luke Quick with two hands. Next one is @Tomasnz my defensive captian partner in last season. As a fellow european player you were the person I talked to the most and i enjoy chatting with you up until today. Your voice and accent ist sexy and I still wait for your next podcast. And a quick reminder that my all-time chess record against you is 1-0. A quick and genuine shoutout to @overdoo . Man was I sad when I heard from your trade. Wish you all the best and we still need to pull off the ISFL rocket league tournament with @Shiny . (looking at the Competition and Contest Department ( @"KanakoTheSquirrel" , @Luciddreams702 , @DarknessRising )). Now a few words for @Hallmonitor_20 aka IA GM and @Frick_Nasty . Thanks for trusting me and picking me into this awesome team. You gave me the oppurtunity to help shaping the new Baltimore team. Had a ton of fun in the process. I cant really judge, but best (and only) team I have been in. Plus you allow me to grow a army of King Jellyfish emotes which is nice. You are both always fun to talk too. Talking about GM´s, I have to mention Ehrenmann #1 and Ehrenmann #2 (@katarn22 and @slate). Thanks for introducing me to this great community. Pity I wasnt that active in mid season. But London is always a fun place to hang out for some minutes. The next Ehrenmann or better said Ehrenfrau is @Mojojojo. She ist he only and first person to present a jellyfish as a Fish oft he day in the Sarasota server. That was really heart warming and nice of you. I will never forget that. A quick shoutout to my fellow EPIC RPG players @krazko, @DeadlyPlayer @abh89 @slate and the Loser Squad @Luciddreams702 and @noanic. I need to get active again lol I also want to thank @LimJahey for giving me the job as a grader. Its always a fun activity grading peoples submissions. I see iam already above the 300 words so just a quick shoutout to all the great people in the Baltimore locker room. Hope to continue having nice and fun chats wit you guys. And iam excited to get to know all the new guys too. Hope I dont forgot anyone. If I did just hmu and I will add you lol @shadyshoelace @TheDangaZone @UltimateYeehaw @kentakira @Shiny @Thiath @Alucas @TomHanks @fever95 @MacDaddy @allbetsonjames @BigUnitBabs @SippyCupz @kingtag1999 @ilmari07 @Miller @jackkmart @PDXBaller @goodfortunecoffee @Bauer @golden_apricot @KillaScrilla Lets win some Ultimus´s ahh und @noanic bist auch ein Guter. Ich schulde dir immer noch den Kasten Tyskie und den Tabak/ Pfeife haha
It has been almost a year since I entered the league in S25, in that time I have met many people in the league. I may not be the most active person on discord, but these are some of the many people who have positively impacted my time in the league.
First I would like to talk about @Sylphreni and @Highhaschdi. They were the GMs of the London Royals when I entered the league. I made sure I earned more TPE than any other kicker in the incoming class, but had no idea where I would go. Then at pick 45, I was drafted to London. If I had not been drafted to London I may not still be in the league because of the people I met and interacted with there. I believe my first messages in that server were: "Hello, am kicker", then a gif of someone dropkicking someone else. In the locker room I got into epic RPG a bit, then stopped after a couple months. People who were doing epic RPG with me around that time were I believe @DeadlyPlayer, @slate, and I'm sure others, but I cannot remember. In the counting bot channel I remember @katarn22 and myself going back and forth several hundred numbers once. I remember once @Crunk broke the count, and I got it up to 100 with him at one point. S24 was a great season for London as we won the Ultimini, but also because the draft class had so many great people in it. I have already mentioned some of them, but the ones I did not mention, and remember being active in the locker room, were @platanocat, @Swanty, @y2bobman, and @gav. Thank you for being a great draft class to enter the league with. In the Philadelphia locker room, there are many great people in there too. @Jimi64, @WildfireMicro, and @juniped to just name a few without this getting way over 300 words. That is all for now, but this could have easily reached 1000 words if I talked about each person individually. |
