Refs are humans too. As humans, they are prone to mistakes, bias and hubris. This is awful. The good news for the league, and the sport as a whole, is that THE BALL DON'T LIE! As a DB, Russet Buster has been on his fair share of terrible calls. Hand-fighting that gets flagged for PI. WR jumps into him and draws the flag. He plays within the rules, but it seems the goalpost keeps moving.
In the semi-final of the state championship tournament, late in the game, the Jefferson Valley Broncos were driving against Russet's conference-leading defense. 3rd and 13, a WR lines up across from him. Russet moves up to jam him at the line. "Fuckin potato, man. C'mon," he muttered. Play begins and they lock up. Russet is stronger than the WR assumed, and they engaged for a few steps, before he wrestled free and faded to the boundary. Russet's fluid hips allowed him to change direction quickly and track well with the WR. The ball was lobbed in their direction and Russet, with his head around to track the ball, but one hand up to knock the ball down. Pass Break up. 4th down! *tweeeeet* The referee had blown his whistle and called Russet for illegal contact. Luckily for lovers of justice in the world, THE BALL DON'T LIE. 2 plays later, Russet was tried again, because I guess he looks tryable, but he snagged the ball and took it 73 yards the other way for the pick six.
It was later discovered that this referee had accepted a McDonald's bag filled with 2,000 USD the night before the game. This is why I propose that all human referees are replaced with THE SKY JUDGE. Thank you.
It's been a frustrating year as the Hahalua has dealt with a sever collapse down the stretch of the S32 season. They started off 8-1 with one of the best records in the ISFL. They ended up losing the last 6 out of 7 games. 5 out of the 6 losses were by one score. As the frustration started to boil over, Big Slammu's dark past came back to haunt him. He became more and more erratic on the field and was gaining penalties left and right, all of which he claimed were proof the refs were out to get him. Things came to head in the final game where the Hahalua had no choice but to win. Slammu had a free run on the Sabercats QB and pummelled him into the turf. The refs ended up calling roughing the passer on it and Slammu was kicked off the field. The penalty yards set up a late 57 yard FG to seal the Hahalua's season.
The most glaring bad call ive seen from this season was not a penalty, rather a touchdown that was called down at the one three seperate times. Im talking about Bondi Beachs overtime loss to Portland just a few sim weeks ago. The call in question came on the Portland goal line in overtime. A touchdown wins the game. Unfortunately for Bondi, the sim goal line mechanics are awful, so we punched the ball in three seperate times only to have the sim call it a the the one. This happened in another game as well but the Portland game was worse because it happened three times in a row and quite LITERALLY cost us the game in overtime against one of the top teams. On first and goal at the one yard line, My player Gus Bus, a champion of power and short yardage runs, ran the ball, clearly across the plane, visibly on screen, yet stopped at the one. Next Play, our other RB Deviney gets the call, same thing. I have a screen shot of this particular play. Crossed the plane, stopped at the one.
on the nest play, 3rd and goal, I got the ball again and crossed the goal line only for the sim to call it short despite being visibly over the line. understand it is just the sims code or something not translating to the visual that well or some other science bs, but its a bit frustrating when you can literally see the player fully over the line and still called short.
You really hate to see it but the refs can make a ginormous impact on the game of football. One of the times that stand out for Tyron Brackenridge Jr. is during his time in college at the University of Maryland. This bowl game was coming down to the final minutes and the Terrapins only held a 4 point lead with the opposing team beginning to drive the field. Tyron was having one of the best games of his collegiate career only for it to be tarnished by bad officiating. The first of which occurred on a fourth down where their defense was able to shut them down and effectively end the game but the refs decided to call a facemask penalty on the sack but there had been no hands anywhere close to the quarterbacks head. Then finally on the supposed last play of the game it was a hail Mary to the endzone but Tyron Brackenridge Jr. Got called for pass inference thus putting the opposing team on the one where they'd eventually win the game the next play.
