Well when looking at the San Jose Sabercats and their 3-7 record, one thing really sticks out...1-5 road record. We need to start to learn how to compete on the road. With only two more road games left, those against the New Orleans Secondline and the Austin Copperheads, I think we need to consider what their strengths are with the fans and being able to tune out the fans and just play like it's practice in half pads. I think another benefit could be if we find a more established running game. We have Lackson and Malone who are on opposite sides of age, with Lackson being one of the oldest players and Malone being one of the younger running backs, I think the torch handoff is gonna be a big step in this teams development. I think besides that we should be fine honestly, let's go Cats! And I think, don't be surprised if we go on a run out of nowhere by the way.
With a record that many teams would look at and call the season over, somehow the San Jose Sabercats are still alive in the now terrible ASFC conference, a sentence not heard since I rejoined the league way back in S21. Although the Sabercats can still make the playoffs, the chances are going to be very slim, with the team being inferior to most teams in the league, so they can change their focus to getting player stats. Jamar Lackson is less than 200 yards away from taking over the 5th all time spot for at least a season in the rushing department. Lackson is also 12 yards away from taking 2nd all time in scrimmage yards, an amazing feat for anyone to accomplish in a career. Looking at the other SJSS members, they could just go air raid and try and win a WROTY award for multiple of our receivers like Higgins and Crossley.
With the season getting over that halfway mark I think the awesome copperheads have a quite a bit that they can improve on. first and foremost I think offensively we gotta get Jackie Daytona going and really slinging it around like we know he can. secondly defensively we gotta keep teams from scoring I mean it's pretty simple is that we have all the talented players here we're just not really producing. just looking at myself in the mirror a little bit here I really need to get the back table to get more sacks to end these drives so our offense can get moving earlier in game so we can run the ball down their throats and play the game that we want to play. we obviously want to run the ball with our two headed monster and really control the clock but it's hard to do that when teams are dropping back pass and scoring quickly so I really gotta get back there and disrupt that passing game with the teams that we've been playing . I think it's safe to say that a little bit of a down year so far but we have time to bounce back and still make the playoffs if we really get back to playing our game.
Through 7 weeks, the Norfolk Seawolves sit at a record of 4-3, but if I'm being honest there isn't much they could be doing different, they've just had a few unlucky bounces. They have a top three offense, led by quarterback Ozamataz Buckshank, veteran receiver Malcador The Hero, and rookie receivers Erwin Kemp and Lucius Salem, that doesn't really seem to be the issue. If there was one problem with the offense, it's that when Buckshank is off his game, then the offense may struggle throughout the whole game, as Norfolk has a bottom four rushing attack. As for defense, Norfolk ranks number one in total yards, 3 in rush yards, and 2 in pass yards, so obviously the defense as a whole isn't the issue. The issue with Norfolk's defense is a tale as old as time, giving up the yards and big plays at the least opportune and unluckiest time possible. So if Norfolk continues to do what their doing, and basically pray to the luck gods, they should be looking good to repeat as ultimini champions.
We're roughly halfway through the season, and the New York Silverbacks find themselves in second place in a very interesting ASFC. With a 5-5 record, the Silverbacks have had some ups and some downs, but overall things are going well for a New York team in transition. Rookie quarterback Malcolm Savage has been having a terrific season, helped by superstar wide receiver Tugg Speedman. Brandon Prince has taken over the lead running back role and has shown explosive bursts throughout the season. On defense, second year player Sakeem Webb and rookie Videl Valor lead a retooled linebacking corps. Veterans Brick Van Sanzo and Dogwood Maple and recently acquired defensive end Rocco Blade bring years of experience to a very competitive defensive unit. The team has a lot of moving pieces as new players take the lead and aging veterans begin to slow down but the team finds itself in the thick of the playoff hunt. It's a testament to the dedication of the players, and the future looks bright.
