Tier 3: 18. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S40 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season? (Written Task)
I'm a recreate albeit one that's been away for a bit, so I guess having past experience would be something that can be in my favour as more of a known quantity relative to new creates. My first player played around 10 seasons before heading off into retirement and at the time I did manage to break the 1500 TPE mark prior to regression. That did put me in the top 20 back then so I guess you could point to that as being an indicator that I might be a good to decent earner in the league. Being a recreate I also have some money in the bank from my previous player, so paying for equipment and training will be something that I should be able to do for a while even without taking on a league job or submitting gfx on a weekly basis. While I probably won't be the most active in discord or be someone looking to join a war room, you should be able to rely on me to reliably earn TPE and update every week. Code: 181 words Tier 3: 23. What are your thoughts on the sim engine? What sort of improvements would you make to the sim engine if given the opportunity? (Written Task) I'm a bit removed from the league so this information may be outdated since we've had some patches and adjustments since I was last around. One of the things that I did like relative to DDSPF16 was that in testing it seemed to be more competitive in that you could be a team playing away and still have a decent shot at winning a game. Roster strength matters but it did seem like even if you had a weaker roster you had more of a chance to be competitive in the current sim relative to DDSPF16. While that's good and all there's a few things that I would adjust. For one, I'd have a matchup/exhibition feature with export functionality to help with testing. While I don't have any interest in testing this time around, I still think it would be a nice feature to have. The other change I would make would be return game. I guess this could be a slider to adjust the frequency of returns and/or the relative difficulty of them. One thing that I do miss compared to DDSPF16 is the impact you have in the return game. Return records seem untouchable and it doesn't seem likely that anyone will be able to trouble the record books without some help or copious amounts of sim luck. Code: 222 words Tier 3: 27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task) My first player was on the defensive side of things and while I did consider making another defensive back I opted to go for a wide receiver instead. If wide receiver wasn't something on the table, the next best option for what I had in mind was a running back. It was pretty close between going running back over wide receiver when creating, so it's any easy decision for me to pick running back as the other position I would play. The running back I had in mind would be a receiving back since I would like to have a player that has the ability to contribute in the passing game. It would make sense given that I may not be in a position to be the lead back so the flexibility of lining up as a slot receiver or even on the outside would be something that could be useful for teams. 34. Remi Musgrave-Smythe came into the Yeti lineup this past season as a rookie at left tacklet and made an immidate impact to the Yeti running game. Ceti Pyxis had an amazing year on the ground, not only due to Fullback Triple Option leading the way. But rushes off the left side with Musgrave-Smythe helping we're unstoppable. Heck even that fancy switch play with the tackle moves to fill an additional blocking spot was working. The Yeti had a very good season on the ground, much to the dismay of QB Laughlove who told the media that they were upset with how much the coach was running the ball given his stature as one of the top QBs in the league. On top of on-the-field, Musgrave-Smythe also fit in off the field. Helping the locker room come together and donating much of their free time to those in need in the Denver area. Working on soup kitchens and even donating hair to kids with cancer.
5. “Sim gonna sim” is a popular expression in the league. Write about teams that have been graced by the sim gods and had amazing performances despite statistical odds, and/or about teams that were considered favorites but may have dealt with some bad sim luck that hampered their efforts. How much of an impact did it have on their season(s)?
“Sim gonna sim” an Analysis of the S39 KCC Defense Thesis: KCC lead the DSFL in Defensive Points allowed in season 39, despite having the leagues 2nd to last Defensive TPE of 1079. The team average for Defensive TPE across all eight teams comes to 1409. If we remove the bottom two teams, KCC and TIJ, the average of the remainders jumps to 1565. That puts KCC at a deficit of nearly 500 TPE despite having by the metrics the best scoring defense across the DSFL. Can we mark this up to "Sim gonna sim", or is there another explanation behind the results? Analysis: Let's take an in depth look at how this statistical anomaly came to be. Other stats of note: Looking at yards allowed total the KCC defense averaged 130.4 Rushing yards/game allowed ranking conference 4th, league 6th. But the defense confidently made up for this deficit in the pass game only allowing 235.9 Passing yards/game ranking 2nd best in the conference and league 3rd overall. The KCC defensive scheme specialized in stopping the pass, which may have been a factor in their league best points allowed. However, I'm not sure if that tells the entire story. KCC additionally totaled 35 defensive turnovers which was good for a league 3rd best, right behind DAL and NOR who tied for first at 39 defensive turnovers each. While turnovers can be reflective of defensive performance it has also historically been a stat heavily influenced by luck and randomness, thus "Sim gonna sim". At first sight it could appear that KCC was dealt a good hand by fate, but despite the topic of this article, I'd like to argue more in favor against that notion. I think given the average defensive TPE we can attribute partial success to lucky sim breaks, but saying that would be a slight against the KCC methodologies. KCC lead the DSFL in Offensive TPE at a staggering 2094, and they took clear advantage of their offensive fire power by taking early leads with a league second 26.1 points per game, thus forcing opposing teams to make big plays or go home. This played into a defensive scheme KCC deployed that I'd describe as "Bend but don't break". Offensive throughput allowed Kansas City to focus on a defensive strength at Safety by stopping opposing pass attacks with a deep cover scheme which exploited the turnover prone deep ball, while additionally their two star Defensive Ends to focus on getting to the quarterback(21 sacks combined between their starting Defensive Ends). Conclusion: While the defensive points allowed per game of KCC may appear to be a "Sim gonna sim" anomaly, I think there exists a fair argument that a well employed offensive and defensive gameplan was an equal contributor to that factor. I'd like to conclude by high lighting a few of the standout players on the Coyotes. Defensive Standouts: CB: Synystyr Gates: 10 Tck, 1 Sck, 1 Int, 2 PD A late season addition to the team, Gates proved to be a quick start at Cornerback tallying 1 sack, 1 interception and 2 pass defenses in just 4 games. Gates was also a pivotal part of KCC's playoff run with an early 3rd quarter interception coming out of the half of a close 10-7 game that resulted in a touchdown drive. DE: Alex Armstrong: 51 Tck, 7 Tfl, 3FF, 14 Sck The true force of the defense Alex Armstrong totaled 14 sacks tied for 2nd best in the DSFL. Armstrong was one of the higher contributing factors to the dominate KCC pass defense. Ryan Lawrence: 12 Tck, 1 Tfl, 3FF, 7 Sck On the other side of the defensive front, Ryan Lawrence brought an additional 7 sacks and 3 forced fumbles combining with Armstrong for a league leading 6 FF from a starting Defensive End pair. Safety: Dalibor Dvorsky: 63 Tck, 4 FF, 2 Sck, 3 Int, 9 PD At the keystone of the KCC defense lies Safety Dalibor Dvorsky. This ballhawk tallied up an astounding 7 turnovers and 9 pass defenses. A clear contributor to the "bend but don't break" big play style of the KCC defense. Matthew Fryars: 12 36 Tck, 1 FF, 3 Sck, 0 Int, 7 PD Locking down the other side of the field was Safety Matthew Fryars. Fryars locked down opposing quarterbacks both from downfield and in the backfield with an impressive 3 sacks combining with Armstrong and Lawrence for 17 sacks between the trio. (751 words)

16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season? (5 TPE)
Starting with the team first (OCO), we finished the season exactly where we thought at the start of the season, and that's second to last just before HON with a record of 4-11-1. We should expect another rough season in S40 for the Otters, but at S41, if the Gms can keep their young core together, it should be a different team. They will also need to put a lot of energy in their passing game, even if they were the best rushing team in S39, they still finished bottom of the standing. Its just more proofs that the ISFL is a passing league, and it that domain, OCO finished second to last just before Berlin. Now, some great highlights, Zane Cold was dominating again this season on the field. He finished on top of the ISFL in yards, with a total of 1664 in 332 attempts, for 11 TDs, that'a putting him at an average of 5 yards per carry. These yards helped Cold became the RB best RB in OCO history. Two mores Orange County record were broken this season, both by Bender Rodriguez. He became the Otter with the more tackles, and the more sacks. Lastly, he'a talking about videogames every thursday. On personnal side, my player has exceeded my expectation by a tiny bit. I had set my expectation kind of low, because it was my first season in the ISFL, and I didnt knew how my LB would do with below average TPE compared to the rest of the league. I wanted to have at least 80 tackles, 5 TFL, and 2 sacks, I have finished with 94 tackles, 2 TFL, and 1 sacks. Next season, I hope to break the 100 tackles mark, and get more TFL and sacks, something like 7-8, and 3 sacks. With all that, my main goal is still to help OCO to be a better and reliable team on defense as a part of the main core for the futur. 322 words 32. Your player has decided to start a podcast since it's what all the cool celebrities are doing these days. What would the name of your player's podcast be and what would they talk about/do on the podcast? (Written Task) (2.5 TPE) Sim Sunigh decided to start a podcast as soon as he arrived in Orange County for his ISFL career. He named his podcast; Sunigh's Sportech ang Gibberish (SSG Podcast). He talk about 3 subjects that he love for 1 hour (for each subject) 3 times a week. Monday, he talk about sports in general, with a focus on football, he's taking comments from viewers, and talk about the highlights of last weekend in the ISFL. Wednesday, the subject is about computer and electronics security, Sunigh studied in this at Penn State University. He test some VPN and password managers, and give his feedback to his audience, and answers their questions aswell. Lastly, he'a talking about videogames every thursday. Talking about the latest release with his viewers, and commenting about the trailers of big event like E3, or nintendo event. Sunigh felt in love with this media, and he get more and more viewers with time. He'a thinking to bring thing a bit further, and maybe even try to stream on Twitch. 171 words 36. 8. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S39 class and later. In 300 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
So far my experience has been great. This is such a cool idea and it has been implemented well here at ISFL. The board and the discords are both very engaging. The board has been a fun and nostalgic thing reminds me of being a teenager and being active on different message boards before reddit was around. The discords always have people in them talking about the league and different things, even late at night when I am most active. So far the most stand out person has been Raven. Hes always help with mine and others questions and is mostly on when I am. Very knowledgeable and nice about answering questions, I cant hype him up enough about being a good rookie mentor. SO far my player is really coming together. There have been plenty of tasks to help get TPE and none have been hard to discourage me from wanting to do them. I even had a fun presser, that I ended up getting some great questions and actually had a lot of fun answering. (Shout out to the guys that asked the questions) I have not been drafted yet but the predraft so far has been cool talking to some of the DSFL GMs. I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks with all the predraft stuff that is going to go on. The prospect bowls will be cool to finally see my player in action. The only comments I have so far is that you guys at the ISFL have been great so far in recruiting and helping new players get established and on their way on become a future ISFL player. And to the DSFL GMS out there hit me up on discord I dont check it all the time but I am pretty active at night and will get back to you and to any players out there you could always hit me up and tell me why your DSFL team is the best so I can be hype when they draft me. 21. Written Option: If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be? If Rolund had a show it would be a DIY show called Onyxgut Family Forge. It would be shot in his families shop deep in Ironforge where him and his brother and sister would teach people about smithing. The episodes would cover everything from jewelry making, blade smithing, and how the metals are mined and refined. Each episode would also have a segment where their father talks about whatever he wants but the viewer is (almost) always left with a good life lesson or at least a decent piece of advice. The fan favorite part of the show will be trying to figure out which dwarf is which since all three of the siblings look very much a like its even had to tell which one is the sister since all three have pretty burly beards. The show will only air at 2am on on PBS but will develop a cult following like Bob Ross but with more beer and violence. 26. if your player wasn't a professional in the ISFL/DSFL, what would they be doing instead? If Rolund wasn't a football player he would have a few options. His first choice would be a fighter in the Azoroth Arenas. Rolund has always had a passion for hitting things. In fact the event on campus that lead to him having to join the football team as punishment was a fight (his sixth that year) he got into with 7 gnome students who he said "couldn't beat up a dry murloc" which the gnomes took great offense. Secondly Rolund was an archeology major in school. Digging for things was always his passion since his father regular took him with him on his mining expeditions. Rolund as a young child accidently stumbled upon a great archeological find when he dug up a chest containing books and maps from The war of the Three Hammers which lead to scholars learning things about the dwarf clans fighting each other and eventually splitting. He was awarded a full academic scholarship for his find.

14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.
When talking about ISFL expansion, there's a few simple dos and don'ts that you want to make sure your new franchise adheres to. The biggest thing is that you don't want your new team to overlap with the fanbase of another one. That'll divide up a fanbase and be bad news for both parties. In terms of untapped locations in the United States, there's quite a few places that are far away from any current franchises. The Southern Atlantic coast is free from Baltimore down to Sarasota, meaning cities like Atlanta and Charlotte are in play. The Ozarks region is wide open from Chicago all the way down to New Orleans, which sets up places like Memphis and St. Louis to be considered. And there's also the Pacific Northwest just waiting for a franchise that isn't just a developmental one. Seattle or maybe Vancouver would be available if you wanted to hop across the border. Speaking of our neighbors to the north, even with Yellowknife having just won the title, a second Canadian team wouldn't be a horrible idea, given Yellowknife's remoteness, and just how stinking massive Canada is, to be represented by a single team. There's your usual suspects: Toronto, Montreal, and the aforementioned Vancouver. An interesting option could be Halifax, Nova Scotia, a beautiful part of the country that's the largest city in Eastern Canada. Another option that we haven't consider yet is a team in the Caribbean region, like San Juan or Havana, if we can design a stadium that can withstand hurricanes. Finally, there's Europe, which is probably the biggest growing market for American football. Berlin and London already have teams, and that's a good start, but Istanbul might be the biggest potential landing spot for the ISFL, being the intersection of two continents, and being close to a third, with a population of almost 15 million people, it could be the perfect site for the next ISFL team. 18. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S40 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season? (Written Task) What does Florida Man bring to a franchise? (Aside from dodging arrest warrants like he dodges defenders?) Well for starters, I've got blistering speed that can help take the tops off of defenses. My statlines have always featured a wild yards per reception total, and I'm known for getting a good number of scores, which seems like the most important thing to be able to do. I've also shown a willingness to work my way up the ladder. At Central Florida, I started off on kick return duty, and became so much of a weapon there, that they had to find more stuff for me to do. And similarly in Minnesota, I started out way far down on the depth chart, but by the end of the season, I was the #2 receiver there, only behind their star tight end. Also, I can bring my pet alligator, Chomps, to be the new mascot. He's a good boy. 27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task) What would happen if I couldn't play at wide receiver? Well, my second choice would probably be running back, as the alure of an offensive skill position is very hard to ignore. However, if I knew where the league was at when I joined last offseason, I'd probably switch to a spot on the other side of the ball. There seem to be way more openings on defense than offense, which makes sense. With very few people wanting to play on the offensive line, there's basically six starting offensive roles and eleven starting defensive roles for each team, and with offensive spots being more desirable than defensive ones, it's no wonder why there's more openings on defense. So I'd probably switch to there, maybe as a corner or a safety, as my player would have plenty of knowledge from that side of the ball, just from watching the people who defended him.
13. Choose a team or player to write about that isn’t your own. What did they do well in the last season? Have they shown any drastic improvements from previous years? What could they do better?
Well I'm gonna Choose to talk about the Honolulu Hahalua. now you may think this is only going to be me talking down this team that up until the end of week eight last season had a twenty three game losing streak well if we count preseason games it would actually be Twenty seven but that doesn't matter. well two seasons ago the Honolulu Hahalua didn't win a single regular season game that's right not a one but that's a good thing right that must mean this past season could only be better right? well it didn't look that way at the start of the season hell they didn't even do well in preseason games. As said earlier it wasn't until week eight were they would get their first win over the Cape Town Crash a team that had a five hundred season and only won two games by over a single touchdown but they were the best team they beat this season oh and that first game they won by a touchdown and an extra point that's right seven points not the biggest win but still a win is a win, now their next win can against the Orange County Otters a team that is only slightly better then they are but this game was also a small win so some may call it luck i'm not as sure about that opinion as others and their final win of the season and it was another small win this time against the San Jose SaberCats. now with all that said I have some really good news for Honolulu Hahalua this is the second year in a row you're at the bottom of the league that means you get good picks again which will help you rebuild and in my option become one of the stronger teams in the league my production for this coming season is a five hundred season or better! [322 words] 18. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S40 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season? (Written Task) Well i'm gonna be honest this Squirrel has got one real job as a pass rush Linebacker and that's to give every ISFL and DSFL QB a nice big hug! honestly there is much more to me then just giving amazing hugs. I'm also one of the friendliest people you will meet, i'm willing to help out in the war room from taking notes, helping with recruiting and testing out the sim i'm willing to do whatever is needed of me. now i should point out that i have also been a former DSFL GM so i'm not talking out my ass about this stuff. now i'm also gonna be doing a podcast to gain extra money and get a league job in a season or two so i can hopefully be one of better earners on the team. now with all that said their is one last thing i want to say i have been on very few different ISFL teams so i wouldn't mind being on a different one this time around. [175 words] 32. Your player has decided to start a podcast since it's what all the cool celebrities are doing these days. What would the name of your player's podcast be and what would they talk about/do on the podcast? (Written Task) The name of my podcast would be ISFL History with a Squirrel! Now this podcast would be a rundown of not only each season of the ISFL as a whole but it would also go by each team's season. i would bring on players and General managers from teams from the season we would be talking about that episode. if a team moved or had a rebrand we would bring on the people who were important to said move or rebrand to talk about the difficulties of it and if they had any other ideas for the move or rebrand. the other thing we would do is bring on the first General managers of expansion teams the talk about the creation of the team, an other ideas they had for the team, any players they wanted to pick up in the expansion draft but couldn't get for whatever reason and how the first season went in their option. at this end of the day this podcast would be one part history lesson to one part interview talk show which i think could be really fun!
