Hello ISFL community,
It's been a while since our last newsletter in S42. During that time, while not much major change has occurred, it's always great to review some of the league's happenings to keep everyone informed. The main news of the last edition was the merging of player and update threads. We have a few similar topics to cover in this edition, marking the first newsletter of a new reign of commissioners.
New Commissioners and Their First Posts
Recently, both @Swanty and @nunccoepi resigned from their roles as Commissioners of the ISFL and DSFL, respectively. Following this transition, they have both departed from HO entirely. Consequently, I've taken over as the ISFL commissioner, and @woelkers is now the DSFL commissioner. Swanty, during his two tenures, served over 2 years in total in ISFL HO, the second-longest duration we've seen. He has been a driving force in league development, introducing features like the TPE Checklist and adding extra stats to it, even when he wasn't part of the HO. Swanty consistently demonstrated positive leadership, always ready to assist in any capacity.
Nunccoepi has been a mainstay in the DSFL HO, dedicating over 3 years, the longest anyone has served in either HO. As commissioner since June 2022, he ensured that new users, vital to our community, received the necessary support and environment to grow and remain engaged. His dedication has been pivotal in improving the experience of the developmental league and its members.
On a personal note, I joined the HO as an intern alongside Swanty, with Nunc already being a member. Their dedication and attention to detail have been exemplary, and they have set the standard for HO members to follow into the future. If Woelkers and I can emulate their consistency, the ISFL will continue to be a cherished community. I'll share more thoughts on my vision as commissioner in a media post next week.
Charity Recap
The charity drive is nearing its conclusion. Auctions and perks will close at 11:59 PM EST on Monday the 25th. Donations have been pouring in and will likely increase as the deadline approaches. Remember, once the auctions and perks end, there's a 24-hour window for final donations. Currently, we've raised over $1,500 for two remarkable causes, a testament to the generosity of our community.
Changes in GFX, Media, and Podcast Payments
Since our last newsletter, there have been adjustments to our primary money-earning and community content methods. GFX now uses a 5-point scale, with a slight reduction in payouts. Additionally, a more structured graphic rubric has been introduced. These changes aim to balance the efficiency of graphic creation with other areas. View the new scale here.
Media payouts have been simplified to a flat $2,000 per word, making it more straightforward and slightly increasing the potential earnings. The podcasting rules now permit two podcasts per week, allowing creators to earn double under the new system. Details on Media and Podcast changes can be found here.
PPT Combined Claims
This change has been overwhelmingly positive. This season, we consolidated individual PT and weekly prediction tasks into a single weekly claim. This streamlined process benefits both players and auditors. Given its success, this method will remain a fixture in our league.
New Video Rookie Guide
User @LtHudz recently released a comprehensive 6-part video guide for ISFL rookies. It covers essential topics like starting a career, earning TPE, and updating player profiles. This guide is not only invaluable for newcomers but also serves as a resource for veteran players to assist rookies.
That is it for this edition of the newsletter. Going forward will try not to have it delayed and be as far apart between editions again. Once again, its an honour to become the Commissioner of this league and will strive to keep improving the league and user experience. Until next time, take care everyone.
