This is going to seem a bit odd because since this time I have been on teams and GMd teams that have won a bunch of rings. I have won MVPs and my player became one of the greatest players to ever play in this league, but some of my favourite moments I have had in this league come all the way back in S24 when I played for the Philadelphia Liberty. We were not a good team at all in fact we were kinda shit and on top of that we were expecting to be pretty decent so it made for a disappointing season really but it was still pretty fun. We had some great people in the locker room that season that made it a fun place to be and an enjoyable season. Maybe it's just rose tinted glasses looking back at the past cause I'm sure if my team underperformed that much now I'd be mad as a cut snake and wanting to throw rocks at a lake or something.
I don't think it's a stretch to say I've seen a decent bit of the ISFL during my time in the league, and a lot of it has been more than positive. However, I really don't think it can top my DSFL winning season with the Dallas Birddogs. I think the experience was really made by my fellow birddogs at the time, along with those people who were there prior but stuck around in the locker room. Everyone was extremely friendly and genuinely excited for the games. I don't really think you can get a better atmosphere created for a silly dot football simulation than what was in that LR back then. Obviously the championship was really cool and added a whole other layer of excitement, but even if we hadn't won I still think I would of chose that season for my fondest ISFL memory. Even though I played a "boring" position in kicker, I really don't think that season could of been any better than it was.
I’m in the middle of my second year on the site, my first in the ISFL, so I’m just getting started compared to most of the people here. But I’ve been fortunate enough to have several formative memories already. Winning the Ultimini with the Portland Pythons was a big one; I enjoyed watching the game live, going crazy with my teammates online as we watched the final seconds tick away and we could officially call ourselves champions. Then there was the ISFL draft where I got to hear my name called in the first round. Even nearing max TPE for a DSFL player, I wasn’t sure where I would go; I’d been scouted by a lot of teams and those conversations had seemed to go well, but as a new player I didn’t really have any context or expectations. So going in the first round meant a lot to me. My last big memory was week 3 of this season when I got my first interception in the ISFL.
While I cant say i have been here for many seasons, this being my third, I can say that I have made some good memories along the way. I think some of the biggest standouts so far have to come from my very first weekend here. Trying to get done the rookie tasks and being absolutely overwhelmed with the new player wiki job definitely stands out. At that point I thought, well maybe I don't know if I will actually get into this. At the time it seemed like more work than it was worth, and I'm glad I was wrong about that and stuck with it. Another big memory would of course have to be watching my first dot ball game, the Prospect Ball. It was the Llamas and whatever the other team of losers was. After that of course would be the DSFL draft, and going to Tijuana. I thought if I don't go first overall I probably wouldn't be getting drafted at all. Also wrong about that one. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for the Tijuana locker room and that team. I could keep going about all the sentiments so far, but this is a weekly PT and I've already hit the word count. radio out.
This is my second season in the league, so I have not had a ton of experiences so far. That being said, I've enjoyed the interaction on Discord in the Rookie server and the team server. The comaradarie is top notch and I appreciate the warm welcome I've received. My favorite experience so far is the ISFL Draft. I had a unique experience because I joined in S43 after the season had started. I did not go through the DSFL Draft, so the ISFL was my first experience. I loved the descriptions of the players and the analysis of the draft rationale. I was gitty when I watched Marty Crane get drafted to the Butchers. I knew there was a change that we'd both be drafted to the young, up and coming team. I was very happy to see Chicago select Dewey Greenbeans as one of the new corps of the ButcherDogs.
Prompt Wrote:A lot of us have been part of the ISFL for many seasons. What has been some of your favorite memories to note? I think my earliest times when joining back with the S22 class stand out the most - that class was so big that I think it delayed the league season, leading to lots of doing things in discord while we waited for everyone to get processed and for the season to get started. I hosted a few jackbox games that people had a lot of fun with, and I got rolling on writing media for the league with doing some analysis of the S21 draft class to try and figure out a mock draft. Having so many people not on teams also led to a little different experience where we were in the rookie server and were a huge group, whereas once you're set in the league and on a team, I find myself spending time primarily on the team discord instead. With so much to learn about the league, the time, the expectations, and so on, I had a lot of fun learning whereas now many of those same things feel rote and expected. It's fun too to look back at all the things I did wrong or had misunderstandings about at that time that I've since learned better. In my one season in the league I’ve already had plenty of great times. I’d say one of my favorite memories was hosting my first gameday with OJ and Thor Dangerson. In our first meeting we were joking around like old friends and having a good time. During the game me and Thor Dangerson were doing random shenanigans and making jokes about random stuff which was a really good time. That whole two hour double header was a blast and definitely my favorite memory from the league so far. Not far behind was watching the ISFL draft. I loved watching the other S44 rookies get drafted to their new teams and getting hyped for them in the discord. Then with the 11th pick I saw my name get called by the Mobi on behalf of the Arizona Outlaws and I got to join the best team ever. No feeling better than that.
