As a player on the Chicago Butchers, I was drafted into what was considered a rivalry between the Butchers and the Philadelphia Liberty. During my S22 season, the rivalry was tame, the Butchers were one of the worst teams to ever exist in ISFL history, and the Liberty were a middle of the pack team looking at an upswing. During the off season, the Butchers traded a third round pick over to the Liberty for a Defensive end named Mario VonPebbles. This is what really reignited the rivalry between the two teams, and during the season the teams split the matchups 1-1, with the Butchers still being at the bottom of the league totem pole with a promising future, and the Liberty just barely sneaking into the playoffs as the third seed. After the S23 playoffs, the Liberty were considered a team that could be a championship contender, with most of the previous years players returning along with the addition of some new younger talent. But 7 weeks into the S24 season, nobody could have predicted what has happened to the Liberty. From a potential title contender, they have dropped all the way to the very bottom of the league, not even having a single win almost halfway through the season. Nobody could have expected this to happen, especially after their very good S23 season. If we were going off of the ISFL stock market right now, the Liberty's stock has dropped almost 50% since the beginning of the season. No matter how you look at it, the Liberty's season has been a disaster, and the future is not looking that bright either, with one of their GM's retiring recently, the Liberty are going to have to rebuild their way back up.
Well, I guess this is pretty easy if painful. There's one team who's stock price has plummeted the most dramatically, a team I keep saying to buy into and being horrifyingly wrong. That team is the Philadelphia Liberty. It doesn't seem like their price will ever stop dropping at this point, so maybe keep waiting to buy into it. It's somewhat hard to say exactly what circumstances have led to the meteoric slide of the liberty. You could point fingers at Warren Stephens who departed in the offseason, but there is no one player that separates a team from the playoffs and a six game losing streak. Our sim testers are extremely hard working, and although our win percentages have not been phenomenal, our current circumstance is extremely unlikely from a probability standpoint. At this point the best hope is a good next season where our stocks will rise dramatically. That would be cool, since I'm a dumbass and have invested about five million dollars into this team. I at least expected us to win against San Jose, but no I lost money there too. But that's fine, that's cool. I'll just keep putting money on Philly and I'll strike it rich when we start getting it back together.

The DSFL draft can be a bit of a crapshoot as you get into the later rounds, with over 100 prospects in this season's DSFL, draft it can be quite difficult to find an active player in the later rounds. When you are drafted in the 10th round in a draft class this big you aren't expected to be a big contributor. L'Gazzy Burfict, a linebacker, was selected in the 10th round of the DSFL draft by the London Royals. In week 1 Burfict got his first tackle in the DSFL four minutes in, and early in the second quarter he got two tackles in what was a three and out. In week 2 Burfict was continuously able to stop the run, as only one run where he made the tackle went for over 5 yards, and 5 of his tackles were less than 3 yard gains. In week 3 Burfict had three tackles on one drive early in the third quarter, but the fourth quarter had something very special for Burfict, with less than two minutes left in the game Burfict got his first sack. Week 4 was an absolute slaughter as London beat Dallas 31-0, Burfict had only two tackles this game, but he made his first one count, halfway through the second quarter on 3rd and short, Burfict got a sack. He has also gone up to 179 TPE. L'Gazzy Burfict's stock has gone up significantly from the start of the season.
There's something different about Sigismund Sternenstaub, right now. It's hard to put your finger on exactly what it is. Is it his slick new haircut? Is it his new pre-game pump up song? Is it the swagger of a newly-minted league champion? Is it Cialis (ask your doctor if Cialis is right for you)?
Whatever it is, you can really see the effect on the field. Sigismund is playing with a degree of confidence that wasn't there in his rookie season. He's pushing around offensive linemen. He's forcing quarterbacks to make hasty throws. He's giving wide receivers uncomfortable looks from across the field. He's throwing football through tire swings with an almost unprecedented level of success. His coaches are noticing. The Seawolves' defensive line coach told reporters that Sigismund has really put up stiff resistance at the point of attack. The defensive coordinator praised him for playing hard each and every play. With Sigismund swelling with confidence, the Seawolves' defence is playing like the best in the league. They've been playing don't bend or break defence, and Sigismund's play stands tall as part of the wall this defensive line has erected across the field, and it won't come down. PS: It was Cialis. |
