There’s a name that always echoes in the award committee whenever the topic of who to nominate comes up. That man’s name: Sean O’Leary. Sean is an image of stability, he’s always going to be one of the league leaders in yards and dominates the field. It’s no secret without him the Chicago offense would be in trouble. And it’s no secret that he should be in serious consideration for Wide Receiver of the Year. Sean is currently 5th in the league in total yards with 805, and while he is middle of the pack in terms of touchdowns, it’s a sign of what he enables. It’s a double edged sword with Chicago, Sean is the main guy on offense in a system with a lot of hungry mouths to feed, so he won’t always have the best stats. But by teams focusing on Sean, it lets his teammates thrive more. The fact that teams will game plan to try and stop him shows how much impact he has on the position despite the middle of the road touchdown and average yards per catch numbers. O’Leary is a leader on and off the field, and for these reasons he’s my pick for Wide Receiver of the Year.
