Halfway through the season, the Yellowknife Wraiths may not be looking as strong as they did in their last season’s Ultimus winning run, but they have proven themselves to be a consistently strong side that currently resides in the top 3 in their division. Whist individual performances haven’t been as strong this season for the Wraiths, they should take solace in the fact that their offence looks to have a bright future with Kai Sakura and Colby Jack, with both more than likely going to be nominated Offensive Rookie of the year.
Both Kai and Colby have been the stand-out rookies in their respective position, Wide Receiver for Kai and Quarterback for Colby. Out of the two, it is more likely that Colby will win the award overall, as even though Kai has racked up 6 TD, tied second with two other people and only one behind the league leader, he ranks only 15th in yards and his stats tie directly into those of Colby.
Colby may not be popping off on the stat sheet compared to other quarterbacks, his best stat being he is tied first for touchdowns with Banks on 18. However, compared to the other offensive rookies this season, none of them have steered a team as successfully with as much poise as Colby has shown so far in this season. Being a rookie quarterback is never easy yet he has managed to steer Yellowknife back to the playoffs and allow a dual-threat offence to open up other areas of success for the Wraiths.
