My first player was in Season 4. He managed to go first overall in the S4 draft and I believe first overall in the first ever DSFL draft. Those were huge accomplishments to me. I wouldn’t quite say my player lived up to first overall material, but he did alright. I think he was a pro-bowler for a few seasons and I won a trophy. That boy bounced around teams, playing for four different ones in his career in the top league. I had a lot of fun with that guy, especially settling into the franchise I’m still with today, new Orleans Second Line. Up next was my first wide receiver, Bona’beri Jones. This was a quick cat who set some records in the DSFL for touchdown receptions. He was all speed no brakes. I had a lot of fun, and he was drafted to Portland in the DSFL, which was my second time with that franchise. He played his career out in New Orleans. He once went to free agency but nobody contacted him so he remained with the Second Line throughout his entire pro career. I think he had a few good seasons, nothing crazy to write home about, but he was serviceable and I am proud of his career. The career of Bona’beri Jones inspired me to create my second wide-receiver, Brock Bodenhamer. Bodenhamer has gotten off to a slowish start to his career, but I think he will put up a few quality seasons. He was drafted to Myrtle Beach Buccaneers in the DSFL draft. Then, he was drafted back to New Orleans. The Second Line know what kind of player they can expect out of my guys. They aren’t going to be top of the class, but they will be pretty consistent. Overall, the league has been pretty fun. I see myself apart of it for the future. It along with PBE and SHL are what I consider the good trio of sim leagues. I appreciate their inter connected communities and ties. It’s surprising that I have been with the league for over 20 seasons. If I am here for season 50, I expect we might be on a new sim engine, one that is a little nicer to look at in the index. Obviously we will grow and gain/lose some members along the way, but I hope for the most part, the familiar faces stay familiar and the league keeps it current culture. This league has a good thing going, and I would hate to see it compromise that somehow. Cheers to 25 seasons!
