A reality TV host approached both my brother, Romulus Roman, and I for an opportunity to film a series around our life and upbringing in Gary, Indiana. Our tough upbringing and various hardships made us ideal targets for something like this – identical twins, born in a dangerous city, surrounded by reasons to fail growing up and achieving great success in the ISFL. It is Lifetime TV material.
The first few episodes surround our introduction to football in Pop Warner, leading up to the passing of our father and the subsequent life changes and ramifications of that moment. The next segment of the series documents the development of our skills as football players through middle and high school, the hardships of a low-income household with a single mother playing into it. Romulus and I made sure they dedicated an episode to our mom – she was a saint, and without her and her efforts, we never would have made it to where we are… Honestly might not have even had food on the table without her. The final two episodes document the rise to stardom at College and our mother’s passing, and the final episode is really just an intro to our career here in the DSFL.
I’m really excited to start filming. Romulus and I approved the roadmap for the episodes, and we just want to show that you don’t have to come from white picket fences and top of the line cleats to be a pro… it just takes heart.
