The last draft I was in was by far the most important and impactful of my career. It made me the player I am today and lit a fire under me that continues to burn. Let's discuss, shall we?
A few seasons into my ISFL career everyone started hearing whispers about expansion. At this point I was having what I'd call a "so-so" career. No big peaks or valleys, just kind of chugging along. And although it came to me as a surprise at the time I really shouldn't have been shocked that my team, the Honolulu Hahalua, decided not to protect me when expansion arrived.
Being unprotected meant it was time to start talking to the new teams. Both Berlin and New York contacted me early and we had really nice conversations. I told each team I would be happy to play for them and would give them my all if I joined their squad. Now imagine my surprise when I was picked first overall! I was curious to see when and if I'd be selected but I never dreamed that I'd be the first pick. I was ecstatic!
The New York Silverbacks showed a tremendous amount of faith in me to select me first overall and I've been doing everything in my power to prove to them that they made the right call. My activity level went up immediately and I began to take a more active role on the team. I feel unbelievably fortunate to be a SIlverback and I hope the team feels the same way.
