Let's be honest here. New York has one of the, if not THE, best mascots in the league. I mean, come on. It's a silverback. What could be better than that? He's strong. He's fast. He's downright scary. And once you get to know his back story you'll understand exactly why he is the way that he is.
Sam the Silverback loved his old life. He would spend all day in the jungle soaking up the sun, playing with the other gorillas, and generally doing all the things a giant ape does. That all changed, however, on one fateful day. Sam was out and about doing his thing when all of a sudden he was hit in the neck with a tranquilizer. When he awoke he found himself tied to a chair being forced to watch The Big Bang Theory over and over. And over. At first this made Sam sad. But then Sam got angry. Sam got so angry that he broke out of his prison only to find himself on the streets of New York City. Lost, confused, and more than a little pissed, Sam eventually found his way to the football stadium. He saw the crowd. The spectacle. The violence. He loved it. From that day forward Sam the Silverback never left the stadium. He refused. Fearing upsetting the behemoth the team instead chose to let him be. Sam never found out who kidnapped him, but eventually he stopped caring. He was happy where he was.
And that is the story of Sam the Silverback, the greatest mascot in the ISFL. Would you tell him otherwise?
