I went in the 3rd round of the draft to New York and im super happy that happened; but the what if would have been interesting. Before the draft Honolulu's GM Gucci told me he wanted to draft me in the 3rd; but they ended up taking Lionel Rumper instead and he unfortunately went inactive. I feel like if i got drafted there; i might have continued the negative view on Honolulu that Sidd has work hard to fix since i might have run their twitter and would have trash talked a lot more; I have no idea if i would have become GM with sidd but i think it would have been fun if that happened; but i think Atto probably would have still been picked in this world. Another possibility is if Woelkers does not pick me in the 3rd; i believe the next spot i could have gone is either YKW pick at either 43 or 47 (since Arizona Baltimore and Philly did not show me alot of interest in scouting); I had a very good conversation with Fly; and at that point i might have been one of the best players on the board; and i feel like i should have been valued hire than their actual pick Sheed Thebaw; this would have been interesting since I would become teammates with NTG as he was aquired after the draft in a trade; would my relationship with BBB be different if I interacted with their GM's on a daily? If yellowknife didnt take me Austin would have almost certainly taken me with the next pick with half their war room at the time including alot of my Dallas friends and them picking a different DB with their pick instead of me. I would have likely been a CB for them replacing Dermot eventually but it has a large impact on things like the signing of "the_kidd" or the trading for frazzle; but both are too hard for me to figure out so ill ignore it. On all of those teams i would have likely Swapped to CB; and i would have probably been the CB2 for the majority if not all of my career; I wonder how i would feel about that and if i would have tested FA? Either way i dont think i would have been as impactful of a user on any of those teams compared to New York so i am super happy woelkers took a chance on me
Having entered the league after the draft, In Active was subject to the waiver process. He was picked up by the Tijuana Luchadores and has enjoyed his time in the league ever since. But... What if...?
What if he had been drafted to another team? I think it's clear that with such a stellar name, In Active would have obviously been the first overall pick of the DSFL draft. Being the first overall pick, there would have been considerable pressure put on him to do well in his career and would probably eventually lead to him living up to his name and going inactive. What if all of the teams in the league realized his name was In Active, and it's just a precursor to his eventual going inactive? He probably would have been drafted last overall, becoming Mr. Irrelevant. That kind of snub would definitely had lead to a few seasons of mostly max earning just to prove the haters wrong. Then he'd go inactive. But, what if Tijuana had drafted him? Well, that means he would have entered the league before the waiver process was in effect, and that the team took a chance on him by drafting him. That would probably have put more pressure on him to be a mostly max earner. Before going inactive, that is.
How ironic, the first 1 I am forced to write due to no affiliates is about this topic.
I think everyone knows I am a miserable bastard around here now. Or a complete dickhead, either works for me. I do not show anyone respect cause ISFL doesn't have any for itself. Doesn't respect wishes of the user nor cars about them. Now outside of ISFL in the NOLA locker room I am chill and up for a laugh and happy to chat to anyone like I am in PBE, SHL and Super Casual. The reason I state that is purely cause this shitty career in which I feel/get nothing from could have been avoided if @mithrandir had just drafted me to the Tijuana Luchadores which was the only thing I wanted to begin with. Instead I was on a garbage team like Norfolk. To make matters worse and cement why I have had to change player names (Cause screw putting Lazzy in here again) if teams actually drafted me where I belonged (1st round, 1 of the highest earning players in my draft class) then I would also have avoided this. People can argue whatever bollocks factors they want. "We dont need an RB right now" which some teams clearly did/do or "Too toxic" when this wouldn't have happened whatsoever. Yeah, that is probably a simple solution. But alas, I can't wait to laugh at the losing playoff teams. It will hurt them and I can't wait for it [251 words]
In the S22 ISFL Draft, there were four high profile running back prospects on everyone's minds as they put together mock drafts and discussed the possible openings. At the clear number one spot among the four was White Goodman (gucci), a recreate that had a clear TPE advantage from creating at the trade dealine. After that it was a close race between r/NFL recruits Acura Skyline (Skyline), Kichwa Jones (howsour), and Tatsu Nakamura (qWest). Goodman would come off the board at the beginning of the 2nd round as newcomer Honolulu looked to add an offensive centerpoint for the future. The remaining three had to wait until the 4th round, where they all came of the board in rapid succession. First off the board was Kichwa Jones to Austin at 42 overall, with Nakamura and Skyline going 46 and 47 overall to Orange County and Yellowknife respectively. It is a big "what if?" that I often consider as to how different the league might be if those three had been drafted in another order, or if those teams had instead waited to strike on late round gems Richard Gilbert and Jamar Lackson. While Kichwa turned out to be a bust for the Copperheads over time, they recovered quickly by picking up Zoe Watts in S24. Skyline has done amazing things as a part of Yellowknife and was a part of their championship winning rosters in S23 and S26, but he hasn't quite made his mark statistically and has stagnated late in his career. For Nakamura, he would make it to the Ultimus his rookie season and would be a consistent top 5 RB before eventually demanding a trade from the Otters, leading Orange County to scramble to fill that role in the offense and to miss the playoffs for the first time ever. Perhaps Orange County may have not only kept the streak alive had they selected Skyline instead, but maybe they also could have used his championship winning presence to take home that trophy in S22? And perhaps the S26 MVP may have been taken from Yellowknife's Colby Jack and instead gone to the ball-hogging Nakamura had they picked him up after Skyline went to Orange County in our magical IS"if"L. Not to mention Austin might have been able to steal San Jose's magic Ultimus winning beans had they found late round gem Jamar Lackson instead of blowing the pick of Kichwa Jones. What if?
Being the third overall pick in the S28 draft, moving up one or two spots would mean still being a top 5 pick, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be some differences. If I had been taken 2nd overall, I would have gone to Bondi Beach instead of London. Tre'Mendus Johnson, who Bondi Beach did take second, is currently leading the league in tackles. I'd like to think I would have fit into the system in Bondi Beach and excelled quickly as well as he has. If I had been picked 4th overall, I would have gone to the Minnesota Grey Ducks. This would have kept me in the North and going against the London Royals, but of course that wouldn't mean as much without having gone to London first. Minnesota selected a quarterback, so likely defensive players weren't in their first round game plan, but I had many good interactions with the folks in the Minnesota locker room and I feel like I would have felt welcome there. Honestly, being a new create, I would have been happy to go to whatever team picked me, so I dont think it would matter much if I had slipped in the draft order. As a matter of fact, being selected 3rd overall was quite a surprise. (215 words)
Code: 239 words Well, for this, I'd have to even be IN the DSFL draft. I created right after it was streamed so I'm not entirely sure where I would have gone. Given the history with my previous create, Zack Mouse, I'm pretty sure I would've been a round 3 or later pick. I wasn't that active last time around, though I did hit the DSFL cap. I'm sure teams would prefer to have someone who's going to stick it out and not waste a high draft pick. I'm honestly not sure where I would have gone, but it probably would've been towards the tail end of whatever round I would be drafted in. Norfolk's been great as far as a locker room presence goes. On the field... sadly, I can't deny the fact that we haven't been that great since Week 1. I know I'm doing ok-ish, but I'd rather the team have success than myself. I feel my experience would've been somewhat better had I actually been in the draft, but I haven't followed the ISFL calendar for about 4 seasons now. I wanted to come back since I love the sport of football, and the league was great the last time I was here. What if I had actually been drafted to the DSFL this time? I wonder that every day, but I don't regret my decision to create when I did as I'm back, and ready to rock.
Since I'm not a league historian, I guess I'll talk about a decision that I know about and how it would differ from its original result. Dex Kennedy was a late joiner to the ISFL. He became a Minnesota Grey Duck with about six games left to be played. At that point, it is almost impossible to rally up enough intrigue to become a top pick. The S22 NSFL Entry Draft was one of the largest drafts in league history. All told, there were 284 picks. If you're a GM, you've definitely scouted people for a draft. That draft pool might be about, say, 60 people. But you can probably only get to 30 or 40. Now imagine scouting 284 people. Sure, you don't have to scout everyone, but that means you run the risk of missing out on some people. Dex Kennedy heard from...shit, I honestly don't think I remember talking to a single team. Dex Kennedy fell to 69th (tee-hee) overall, where he was selected by the Baltimore Hawks. Kennedy failed to make the playoffs all four of his seasons there, despite being one of the league's top tacklers all four seasons. So what would've happened if GMs actually noticed Dex was worth a damn? Well....not much, probably. Expectations would've been higher than. Which means S27, which was Dex's worst season, would not have gone over well. And he probably wouldn't have broken the all-time single season tackling record because he would be playing for a team that actually had a D-line. Although he might've actually been a Pro Bowler then. Maybe even a champion. But...I doubt it.
