Turned out to be a bit longer than planned - and maybe changed a bit halfway through but its from the heart and i believe that to be more important.
So this is slightly difficult for me to write as I’ve only been part of the ISFL community for several weeks now. So unsurprisingly, I know very few of you and those I do I don’t know, I don’t know very well at all, though I’m sure that will change in the near future. As it turns out this post is more a thank you to those that introduced me to this wonderful community and the support that I’ve been getting, and a small thank you to each and every single person here.
Anywhere, so here goes…...
So initially I found this community advertise through the Green Bay Packers subreddit – Go Packs Go. Initially I was skeptical about the whole premise of the situation with this being basically a forum based RPG. I took a “punt” and signed up and decided to dive into the ISFL. Having never been a part of anything like this before, there was naturally a steep learning curve with regards to mechanics, time dedication and socialising. However, this is where this amazing community starts to show their value as once of the best communities I’ve been apart off.
In real life I’ve never been one of the most socially active or aware members of society. However, I’ve always only been messaged or conversed with in the friendliest manner possible. Initially my contact with initially mainly with scout for teams, and I must say that each and every single member of the scouting teams deserves the highest level of praise. Each time I was contacted, admittedly with the standard scouting questions, however even though I knew that was their main focus, I had a sense that those were really secondary to waiting to welcome you to a smaller more focus section of the community (teams) and the ISFL in general. Through this, I really sensed the passion people could have for this whole set-up with the ISFL.
That then made me realise, quite remarkable, that the whole ISFL system is run by kind, hardworking human, yes, they may not have a face with a traditional name such as Harry, Megan or James, but names such as @NicholasTheGreat, @ WilliamLim & @katarn22 – to name but a few, are just as real than anyone who you would meet in the street on your way to the shops. Now with the world really starting to change, unfortunately helped along by the current global pandemic, be it through the BLM, the climate change drive, the right to repair movement in the UK etc, the stigma associated with “online friends” are being removed from society and for sure that is for the better.
But what being of this community has shown me, is that out there in the world there a good, kind, funny, helpful people who are always willing to help someone who they don’t know. So, sorry to have droned on a bit there, writing well thought threw prose was never a strong point of mine, in short being part of the ISFL community has again re-emphasized the human being are kind. Knowing that never fails to be put a smile upon my face .
So to each and every one of you – thank you for being kind, generous, happy etc. Long may that continue.
Ohh...... and finally - roll on the draft.
