I would encourage this young relative not to give up on their studies. Even though football is fun and it is cool to see a relative pursuing their passions, it is also a very risky game. In order to play football professionally, you have to be the best of the best. Many people spend years of intense training, but are not able to compete against the highest level competition. Even if my relative is good enough to play football at a professional level, a freak injury could occur at any time. Despite these risks, it is still a good thing to pursue your dreams and try to succeed in spite of the odds. However, it is also important to have a safety net and not risk too much. If this relative neglects their schoolwork in order to focus totally on football, they may not have the security of a good education to allow them to get another job if their football career doesn't work out. So I would advise my relative to continue to pursue their dream of playing football, but would warn them not do so at the expense of the other important things in life.
