IT seems the big thing for Sarasota has been getting their passing attack right. Carter Knight was expected to really drag the team down in his first year, but instead hes leading the league in completion percentage, and has also only thrown 4 picks in 8 games. The actual yards per attempt and points scored are not great, but Sarasota can move the ball instead of possessing a sputtering offense that can't accomplish anything in the clutch (at least, so far). Hopefully this brand of offensive scheming continues.
The other big reason for Sarasota's success is a suffocating defense that leads the league in fewest points and yards allowed. They've done it without a spectacular amount of individual stats, although Free Safety Spike Daniels deserves credit due to his 3 interceptions through the first half of the season. Sarasota seems to thrive at limiting yards and forcing enough incompletions, with a defense that isn't bending and certainly isn't breaking. It will be interesting to see if this is an RNG performance, or if Sarasota's coverage schemes and linebacker play are really carrying the team to excellent, if subtle, performance.
