With the Sarasota Sailfish defending the longest active playoff stream of any team in the ISFL, they are pulling out all the stops to make it to the postseason again this year.
On the offensive side of the ball, with the rookie Carter Knight at quarterback, they began the season relying on their emerging veteran running back John Huntsman. But as the season progresses and their rookie gets more comfortable with the level of play in the 'big leagues,' the team will be relying more on Knight to mix it up and keep the opposing defenses on their toes. Look out for a more varied playbook and just a bit of shenanigans as the Sailfish keep pushing through the home stretch of the season.
On the defensive side of the ball, the team has lost a lot of veterans and are looking for their second- and third-year players to step into some big shoes. In particular, keep your eyes on the safety position in Sarasota. Youngster Spike Daniels is quickly making a name for himself and looking to put up stats, that over a long career, may even rival the legendary Cuco Clemente. Playing opposite him is Petey Patterson, Sarasota veteran cornerback now turned Safety. The defense will continue to be aggressive on early downs and play tight coverage, forcing turnovers and wreaking havoc on opposing team gameplans.
