The San Jose Sabercat’s season has not started very well. The seven weeks into the season and the Sabercats are two places out from last. Not the ideal start to the season and they were hopeful for a playoff run. They need to improve at every aspect of their game, from offense to special teams. First, they need to improve on defense. The Sabercats keep getting torched in the air and on the ground. Going forward they need to tighten up and create turnovers to help the offense since they are struggling. Speaking of the offense, Panda McKyle needs to improve. He needs to take care of the ball. He has 9 interceptions, but this number needs to come down. Also, the coach needs to add more plays down the field. McKyle is great at long range, and he has two great wide outs that could get open. They need to scheme to their strength.

Through seven weeks, the Tijuana Luchadores look like an early Ultimini favorite. They are riding a five game winning streak and sit atop the Southern Conference as the hottest team in the league. They are playing well in many areas but their offense looks especially potent, leading the league with over 33 points scored per game. Reigning MVP Live Laughlove is showing once again that he is the best player in the league. He leads the league in yards, completion percentage, and passing touchdowns, and is second in passer rating. He has an abundance of talented offensive playmakers around him, including rookie phenom RB Michelangelo McTurtle and two top five wide receivers in Dumais Wells and Darius Bailey. On the defensive side, Talen Farrens, a free safety, has forced five fumbles in just seven games. Rookie linebacker Elessar Jones leads the league in sacks with 6, and as a team defense, the Luchadores are among the league's best at defended passes and rushing the QB. If Tijuana can continue to be the best passing offense while also shutting down opposing QBs, they will have great success this season.

With the first half of the season out of the way, and at the 10 game period right now, the Butchers are tied for second in the division with a strong 7-3 record. Having the second most points for, and a strong defense, the Butchers have been having a wonderful season with all of their young talent. With the next four games all being against tough competition however, the Butchers will need to have strong performances to keep their momentum going. With the double-headed monster at runningback, the Chicago offense has been a massive upgrade over the previous season's. With three very good receivers as well, the Butchers offense can beat you through any means of offense. With the linebacking core of the last few seasons all regressing and moving on, the young linebackers are starting to make their first impressions in the league. Omni Man has been doing better this season than last, but he is still young and developing, with the hopes that next season he can break out into a star.

After 7 weeks (well, more than 7 now I think), Sarasota is feeling good! We were expecting to have a bit of a… let’s call it a “reloading” year, while our rookie QB Carter Knight adjusted to the pros. However, the rest of the team has really stepped up to support our player-general manager. The defense really stepped up, and has been one of the best units in the league so far. I’ve been very pleased with the growth Spike Daniels is showing in his second year. Without a true strong safety on the roster or strategy team has been playing Spike in the box more often as a run defender. He’s played well there and even gotten to the QB for a few sacks, a whole new dimension to his game! TE Mario Messi has possibly been the team MVP, as he really does it all. As a blocker he protects Carter and blasts open massive holes for John Huntsman in the running game, and as a pass catcher he’s a matchup nightmare and a massive redzone target. Aging stars like Jackson Kingston and Jacob Small have been as excellent as ever even late in their careers and heavily regressed. And our former QB Mike Boss Jr. has started suiting up as a linebacker, remaining one of our on-field leaders and off the field a real mentor for Carter.

Sarasota is positioned well for a playoff run in a year that we weren’t really “supposed” to contend. We’re hungry, we feel great, and we’re fired up for a big second half of the season! Go ‘Fish!

The Copperheads defense needs to keep other teams out of the endzone. Unfortunately, despite having some of the least amount of yards given up, the Austin team are continually giving up points to opposing teams. As long as the Austin defense keeps allowing other teams into the endzone, they will have an extremely hard time winning. That said, it is not fully on the teams' defense, as they are consistently trying to defend short fields due to their current punting situation. If the offense could eke out a few more first downs to give the Austin punter some more room, the opposing teams may need to march a bit further down the field giving the Copperheads defense more time to force turnovers and stops. The Austin defense, with its older core will need to work hard to get better over the season as they make their playoff push. Time will tell whether the Copperheads can make it back to the big game.

Oh man we are about halfway through the DSFL season and I am super happy where the Birddogs are at. In terms of record, we are 4-3, a better record halfway through the season than the record we had all of last season. In terms of what we are happy about, we are happy about our improved defense as we are in the top half of points allowed and have greatly improved our defensive on all phases. In addition, our offense has become more balanced compared to last season and is not as one dimensional. However, we have had a couple of losses that were a bit unnecessary. We lost these games due to not being aggressive on critical spots, as in 4th and goal at the 1, and allowed the opposing the team to get the ball back more easily with better field position. In addition, our playcalling has left a lot to be desired at crucial moments and can be improved at the latter half of this season.
