Being the Head of Appeals, I generally refrain from publicly giving opinions on league punishments for obvious reasons. Given Amadan's departure from league venues, it seems as though an appeal will not be happening so I feel comfortable providing a filtered response.
This league has a well documented history of punishments serving the purpose of deterrence and rehabilitation, not punitivity - generally speaking. A quick review of punishment threads of the past will reveal many users who I'm sure never thought that they would be there. Many of those users are still active and contributing to this league's growth. If we were to always throw the proverbial book at wrongdoers, the righteous few remaining would be but a fraction of the league we have today.
You don't need to permanently ban someone in order to make a point. I think league leadership's efforts in investigating anti-competitive behavior and the community's pretty unanimous consensus as to the inappropriateness of it is all that new players need to see to know that we are not complacent.
I think the focus moving forward should be the league's support of Kansas City as they have been victims of this in more ways than one. My heart goes out to you guys...
