Season 35 of the ISFL has kicked off, but that means we just completed another round of drafts in the ISFL and DSFL and have a fresh new batch of rookies in both leagues. The S35 ISFL Draft has an extremely positive vibe to it at the moment for the Sarasota Sailfish. You might say it’s a bit too early to tell so far, but the Sailfish were able to grab immediate starters with their 1st and 2nd round picks in the S35 draft in K/P Swantavius King and DT Mistah Freddy. Both rookies made their marks the first chance they got with King hitting the game-winning FG and Freddy picking up a clutch sack. Many league analysts have King tabbed as an early favorite for Rookie of the Year, but will be fighting against the hesitance of voters when it comes to selecting a kicker. Enough about King and Freddy though. The Sailfish also snagged a very intriguing prospect in Daniel Sturgeon. He was one of the less widely known prospects in the S35 draft, but has been catching the eye of reporters at the Sailfish facilities all pre-season. He’s still a bit raw, and will spend this season down in the DSFL but is one to keep an eye on as S36 approaches.
