Ahh, offensive linemen. Nary a word about them when they're doing their job well, but they sure do get lambasted when they perform poorly. Some chump on TV was spewing some venom regarding our OL, something about too many sacks and penalties. Thing is, our big guys up front weren't even doing poorly. In the 10 games we've played, they've only given up nine sacks. That's a sack per game. Nobody's perfect. The opposing defense is trying to win, too. Allowing a combined one sack per game is pretty damned good in my book. Also, they've barely committed any penalties: just five for 49 yards. I don't know what the heck Mr. Yelling TV Man is talking about, and our O-line should know better than to let guys like these get to them, but maybe our being under .500 made the atmosphere tense. They started sniping at each other. At first, it seemed like regular trash talk, but the volume and intensity increased quickly, and suddenly they were in each other's faces. I tried to get between them, but these are five large people. I thought for sure I was going to be caught in a fistfight until my co-captain Leandre Diarra (@slate) burrowed his way into the middle of the crowd, and in his calm and quiet way of doing things, got everyone to back off. Eventually, tempers and egos simmered down, and we all went out to the pub. I bought a round for everyone and an extra two shots for Diarra. Big man definitely deserved it.
