S39 Ultimus champion Yellowknife Wraiths made it clear all season long that they were in this for the long run. Going 11-0 to start the season showed the league who is the team to beat this season. Lead by MVP candidate RB Kumquat Archipelago a 5th year player. He managed 2000+ all purpose yards in the season (1336 yards rushing with 19 TDs plus 720 receiving yards with 3 TDs). In the playoffs Wraiths QB Adrian ST. Christmas showed his best performances when he was on the peak of his game. He managed a 68% completion percentage going 64-for-94 for 743 yards and 11 TDs.and surprise, surprise another playoff hero on offense for the Wraiths was RB Kumquat Archipelago rushing for almost 300 yards in the three playoff games and scoring 4 rushing TDS as well as 3 receiving TDs. He caught 15 passes for 175 yards. For the season the defense of the Wraiths was an even bigger part of the success. 63 sacks and 17 interceptions combined with 24 forced fumble really hurt the opponents of the Wraiths. The linebacking corps consisting of Zephyr Greywolf, Jack McPherson and Kahn Cussion accounted for 44 sacks. Interception leader for the Wraiths during the regular was CB Kalam Mekhar with 9. The dominance on defense also shows looking at the standings especially the PA (points allowed) column. The Wraiths allowed 221 points and the second best team in that category were the Austin Copperheads with 319. Almost 100 points difference between the Wraiths and the rest of the league shows how great this team defense was. In the divisional round of the playoffs the Wraiths faced the Clorado Yeti but it was only a game for one half. The Wraiths lead at halftime 28-21 but did not allow anymore points in the second half and took the game by the final score 45-21 to advance to the conference championship. he opponent were the Chicago Butchers and it was again a game of two halfs. At halftime the Butchers lead 17-13 but only managed 10 points in the second half when the Wraiths offense came into gear and 5 TD on the way to a 48-27 win and a place in the Ultimus championship game where the Wraiths faced the Arizona Outlaws. The Outlaws scored 2 FGs in the championship game and the Yellowknife Wraiths took the title in convincing fashion with a 34-6 win.
In the DSFL the defending champion Kansas City Coyotes achieved a rare feat by going back-to-back and defended their title in the Ultimini against the Norfolk Seawolves. The score in the Ultimini championship game was 44-20. It was the second championship game in a row for these two franchises and both times the Coyotes were successful. The Coyotes have been a very rounded team this season. Looking at the key stats on offense the Kansas City team was 1st in yards per game with 395.9, the first place in YPG was the result of being 3rd in rusg ypg with 135.9 and 4th in pass ypg with an average of 260.0. The Coyotes also were 2nd in points per game with an average of 26.7, Looking at the defense key stats the Coyotes were 1st in PPGA (points per game allowed) with a 19.9 average. The yards allowed showed the Coyotes as 3rd in pass ypga and 6th in rush ypga which gave them the number 4 ranking in total YPGA. Coyotes QB Creg Jerrith IV is in the top 3 of all QB categories (passing yards, passing TDs and QB rating).
