ISFL 1ST ROUND DRAFT RECAP
1st Overall - Dino Nuggets - NOLA
Swoosh is a new user who has taken the league by storm, quickly becoming one of the richest members in the league. Everyone saw this pick coming a mile away. Good on NOLA for picking up one of the best up-and-coming players. Grade: A
2nd Overall - Heiiajs Owidhuse - CHI
Not a surprising pick here. Both Firstfray and I entered the league at the same time and played the full 13 seasons with our respective teams. A Chicago legend who made it back home! Grade: A
3rd Overall - Hank Mardukas - NOLA
The first duck off the board! QUACK QUACK! NOLA scores again with another great pick. TE isn't a hugely valued position, but they get a great user here. Go listen to his podcasts if you haven't already. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up changing positions at some point. Grade: B+ just for a TE going so early
4th Overall - Federico Americano - COL
Another league vet going back to their team. Am I seeing a trend here? I haven't had much interaction with them but by all accounts is a great user. And a LB is always in demand. Grade: A
5th Overall - Martin Bachman - NYS
Bachman was the first RB taken in the draft. I was actually quite surprised that one went before me. I have a feeling that many teams thought I was a flight risk to return to OCO (even though I basically told every scout that was not my intentions). I assume they probably wanted fresh blood to help invigorate their LR. Grade: B
6th Overall - Andre Blacksmith - SJS
I don't know much about muford except that his draft stock kept falling in all the mocks. That turned out to not be the case. He is a league vet from way back and an elite earner. Plus he had a previous connection to SJS with his last players. Only knock for this pick is that he is OL and SJS probably had more pressing needs. Grade B+
7th Overall - RE 38 - COL
Colorado traded up here to get RE 38 who is actually a QB. Thing is, they already have a QB of the future in the DSFL. And he used his position change already. Word on the street is that RE 38 doesn't want to change either. Should be interesting to see how this plays out. Grade: C+
8th Overall - Josh Patterson - SJS
When SJS traded for this pick, I thought it was to draft me. Instead they drafted tokesome as their future QB. I can't argue with their decision. He is one of the best new users and will be a great LR add. They did give up quite a bit for him so hopefully he lives up to the hype. I think he will. Grade: B+
9th Overall - Reginald Shrubbery - OCO
That's me! Another recreate going back to the team of a previous career. While most people might have thought this to be obvious, OCO was actually trying to trade this pick for several other high value picks. In the end, I came back home and I am quite happy with that. Grade: shrub+
10th Overall - Dan Dandrews - YKW
They third duck taken in the first round. Not a bad draft for minny. Yellowknife doesn't have many holes and an OL is a great pickup here. Grade: A
11th Overall - Ace Anderson - SAR
The fish's RB is in regression and they needed his future replacement. Dangwookie has been earning great and has been all over chat. Sounds like a match made in heaven. Grade: B+
12th Overall - Luigi Numberone
Another league vet taken here. Ztarwars had been very busy this past season making some quality articles. Numberone looks to break into a crowded CB room full of good users once the older Charles Chapman regresses and Apollo Programs eventually leaves for the highest bidder. Grade: B+
13th Overall - Octavion Speedings - NOLA
I don't know much about them except for he has a great name. NOLA has holes everywhere so BPA is a solid pick here. Grade: A-
14th Overall - Honey Humphries - NOLA
Again, I don't know much about the user here, but they have a great render. NOLA probably needs a lot of help in the secondary. Grade: B
