After three years as the Cape Town Crash, formerly known as the Philadelphia Liberty the team was able to win it all by beating the Arizona Outlaws, the defending champion 20-18. After the relocation the Crash had an 8-8 record in their inaugural season followed by a 10-6 record in season 40 and managing a strong 13-3 record for the season 41 which was the season where they took it all. Looking at the final standings of season 41 the Crash had it all. With 454 points scored they were the #1 offense in that category and with 294 points allowed they were #2 in that defense category only trailing the Yellowknife Wraiths who allowed only 290 points for the season. The rushing game was a pivotal part of the Crash season where the rushing yards per game with 144.3 was 2nd in the league also behind the Yellowknife Wraiths with 155.3. The passing attack lead by Crash QB Craig Jerrith IV added 3803 yards to the Crash season with the leading receiver being WR Derrick Prince with 1294 yards and 5 receiving TDs. Last season MVP Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin was the work horse of rushing attack contributing 1846 rushing yards on 357 rushes for a 5.2 yds per rush average. Jarvis also scored 14 rushing TDs. He also was part of the passing game with 42 receptions for 447 yards and 4 TDs. The season started good for the Crash when they won the first 3 games out of the gate. But losses against the Chicago Butchers in week 4 (30-31) and against the Orange County Otters in week 5 (12-20) saw the record slip to 3-2. But starting with week 6 the Crash won all their remaining games with the exception of the week 13 game against the Chicago Butchers (19-26) to end the season with a 13-3 record which was the best in the league. The first playoff game which was the third game against the Chicago Butchers finally saw the Crash beating the Butchers 26-13 and advance to the conference championship game against the surprising Sarasota Sailfish who beat the favorite Yellowknife Wraiths in the 1st round of the playoffs 40-16. The Crash beat the Sarasota Sailfish in the conference championship game 34-20 to advance to the Ultimus championship game against the defending champion Arizona Outlaws. The game was what everybody expected, a clash between two heavyweights. The unusual game plan for the Crash which did not focus on the run probably threw the Outlaws a curve ball. With only 17 rushing attempts for only 29 rushing yards the game needed some extra push from the passing game. Crash QB Creg Jerrith IV completed 26-of-39 passing attempts for 291 yards including 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Defense was all over the place and no team was able to score more than a TD in a quarter. Arizona took the lead 18-17 in the fourth quarter with 2:28 on the clock and a failed 2 point conversion. Taking over the ball with 2:10 on the clock on the own 11-yard line the Crash completed passes for the next eight plays and moved the ball to the Arizona 26-yard line. With 0:17 the 43 yard field goal was good and gave the win to the Crash with the final score 20-18.
