After last night's display against the Birddogs and Pythons my knee-jerk reaction is that Wynn Jenkins is most certainly not the upcoming star performer we are expecting.
With both games ending with the scores so close, the kicks become an even more vital momentum shifting part of the game, and missing at least one kick in 66% of total career games played, one even being an extra point, is simply not an acceptable stat. The sample size is small, yes, but the Buccaneers will have to work with Wynn to ensure this doesn't become a trait. The season is long and we are still at the start, so there is plenty of time for improvement and the overcoming of this adversity but for now at least he has fallen down the list of the upcoming kickers. His punting game has been generally above average, so whilst it's a much less glamorous position, he is still going to be required if he can't reel in his accuracy... at least for now. 170 words
My Knee Jerk Reaction to the games would be that the Honolulu Hahalua have LOST their home crowd, they have played 3 home games and lost 2 of them, despite winning all their away games this year. Clearly the Hahalua team and the fanbase have fallen out and you can see them booing the team as soon as they go out, clearly the hahalua fanbase are upset with the rising ticket prices and the ownership is mad at the fanbase, I would not be surprised if the Hahalua picked up and moved to a different City, i believe that the ownership has a relationship with the City of Boise, which is also in a bigger market the hawaii and in a area without a ISFL team, so clearly get ready to see the Iowa Hahaluas coming within the next 6 seasons, especially if this trend continues and the rift between ownership and fanbase continues
Based on week 1 results, San Jose is the best team in the ISFL. They marched into the Oterr Dome and crushed Orange County. Lloyd Bannings couldn't get any purchase in the game, finishing with under 200 passing, 2 interceptions and no touchdowns. Shrubbery managed to amass 90 yards on the ground, but also couldn't find his was past the stifling San Jose Green Curtain. Meanwhile, San Jose did take the first half off; seemingly to feel out the Otters and adjust at halftime. And adjust they did! After a 6-6 opening half stalemate, SJS came out firing. A quick 3-and-out led to a punt that put the offense on the field for the first time. 4 plays later, Keanu Calhoun had caught 3 passes and found the endzone! From there, the Cats cruised to a 23-point half, while shutting out the Otters. As things stood after week 1, San Jose was the best team in the league, and frankly, you shouldn't need to look past the first game for any more evidence than that.
Three games in and any rational human can address one thing: The Minnesota Grey Ducks are the hardest-hitting team in the DSFL. Leading the DSFL in sacks AND forced fumbles? There's some signal within this noise. The undefeated Grey Ducks are not afraid to lower the boom and cause havoc behind the line of scrimmage, putting the entire DSFL on notice. At the Quack Shack or on the road, the Ducks are prepared to lay the hammer. Will the defense win championships? 100% yes. No more losses. Led by Ali Star and Panda Love, the front seven of The Grey Ducks are poised to grind the competition all the way until the end of the season. Is it possible that I'm wrong? Absolutely not. Defense travels and defense sims. The Ducks will smother the rest of their opponents for the rest of the season, and at this pace will continue to lead the DSFL in Havoc rate. Book it!
Well, I think the knee jerk reaction is that the Honolulu Hahalua could definitely go back to back this year. Despite two losses, we have had some really good games too and some big wins. Hopefully we can keep that going and get into the playoffs and then move back into the Ultimus this season. My own player has also done really well and hopefully Maxwell Jacob Friedman can compete for the awards and such this season, though it feels like deep down it is never going to happen somehow. Still, my stats have been great and I guess my hot take will be that in the end, Maxwell will break all the Honolulu defensive records in his career and maybe get into the top 10 for some of the big categories even league wide. Is that even a hot take or a knee jerk reaction at this point? Who knows, but I am still calling it to happen.
