In this point task I will be going over the playoff situation for the DSFL. Currently only two games remain for the regular season of the DSFL and the playoff picture is already loud in clear. Coming in first overall and with the best record is the Portland Pythons. Currently at 9-3 they have their playoff spot locked in even if they lose their next two games. Next up for the west division is the Norfolk Seawolves. Coming in at 6-5-1 the tie hurt them but overall they have their spot locked down. Now for the much more interesting side the east division. Currently ahead in a surprising seven game winning streak is the Tijuana Luchadores. Starting the season 0-5 these underdogs have came back and won seven straight games to make their record 7-5! This puts them over the San Antonio Marshals by one with the Marshals at 6-6. Here's were things get good depending on these next two games will depend on home field advantage. Not only that but the first game will be San Antonio Marshals @ Tijuana Luchadores. Given the Tijuana has beaten San Antonio a number of times I believe that and also the home field advantage that the Tijuana Luchadores will emerge victorious and thus earn the home field advantage.

It looks like the Portland Pythons will be the number one seed in the West conference of the DSFL. From my limited knowledge (new to the league), it looks like even if Portland lost the last 2 games they would be at 9 wins and 5 losses and neither of the other West teams can have a better record. Norfolk Seawolves would have an 8 win 5 loss and 1 tie record and Chicago Blues would have a 6 win and 8 loss record so Portland Pythons should have this locked down which is great. So by the looks of it, Portland should be in a good spot for the playoffs. They have the better conference record from what I can see with 5 wins and 3 losses right now so I don’t think the other teams in the West can beat it and they should have home field advantage. From what I heard, that is a big deal in this game and it should be an easy time to walk through Norfolk Seawolves or Chicago Blues to the championships. I’m looking forward to helping out the team and it should be a fun game to watch as a rookie!
Well this is going to be a pretty easy PT now that we know all of the results of the regular season. After losing their final two games the Hawks have been eliminated from playoff contention in a surprise twist. To the surprise of nobody the Arizona Outlaws have made the playoffs.
The Orange County Otters lost their final game of the season to the San Jose SaberCats but managed to hang on to their playoff dreams due to their points scored totals. This will be the 4th consecutive year where the ASFC playoffs will feature the Orange County Otters traveling to Arizona to take on the Outlaws. The Yellowknife Wraiths have pulled off the 2nd worst rebuild in the history of the league (See: Yeti, Colorado) by making it to the playoffs and securing the number one seed in the NSFC. Somehow the strategy of trying to lose games worked out and the Wraiths are on the fast track path to the Ultimus game. The Philadelphia Liberty are back in the mix for the title after putting up some impressive special teams play in the final two weeks of the season. The biggest game of the year for the Liberty was definitely knocking off the Hawks in a winner goes home scenario in week 14. The Liberty are the #2 seed and will be taking on the Wraiths. It turns out hiring a special teams couch WAS a good idea.

I think its safe to say that the most hated people in Baltimore are not even in Baltimore. They are in the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado. The most hated people in Baltimore is the players of the Colorado Yeti. This is a team that some say would struggle to even make the playoffs in the DSFL. This is a team who people were predicting to go 0-14. They were extremely close too. But there is a number that changes everything. One. All the Yeti wanted was 1 win this season. That win crushed the 2-time NSFC champs playoff hope. That one is the difference between another shot at becoming king and sitting at home watching someone else battle for the throne. One win turns the Baltimore Hawks from a team that could be to a perennial dynasty. Now its the Yellowknife Wraiths vs the Philadelphia Liberty for the NSFC Championship. That's going to be a hell of a game. All three teams deserve to be in the playoffs. Each team had their own difficult journey to traverse if they wanted to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Baltimore Hawks just had an abominable bump in the road. So yes, The Colorado Yeti ruined the hopes and dreams of an entire city. But ask yourselves, can you blame us?

The season is over, the playoff teams chosen. In the ASFC it is what it always is, The Arizona Outlaws on top and the Orange County Otters not far behind. The San Jose Sabercats made a real push and could overtake either of these teams next year. In the NSFC the Wraiths made it back to the playoffs on top of the division after missing last year and the Philadelphia Liberty advance for the second straight year. The Baltimore Hawks missed out on the playoff but were tied with the Liberty. Don't ask me what made the Liberty get in over the Hawks. I am not 100% sure. It was an exciting season for sure and I can’t wait to see what the playoffs have in store for us. Will there be an upset of the Outlaws at any point. They are sitting at the top and have been for the last 3 seasons. Maybe they will be dethroned this season, maybe not. Only time will tell. Since these playoff games have not yet been played it is still up in the air. Home field advantage is a big thing in this game and the Outlaws make sure they have it every year. Kudos to them.
Hello all! Talking about playoff appearances today. First we'll talking about the two teams that unfortunately did not make the playoffs this season. Up first From the west division is the Chicago Blues. They were the worst team in the west with a record of five and nine. In the East division the only team not to make the play offs is the Kansas City Coyotes. With a record of four, nine and one, that will not be enough to make it in this season. From the West division we have the eleven and three Portland Pythons taking on the seven, six and one Norfolk SeaWolves. I'm giving the edge here to the Pythons. I think home field advantage will be tremendous for them. They're also coming in hot with a four game win streak. It will be hard for the SeaWolves to break that momentum. In the East division we have the seven and seven San Antonio Marshals taking on the seven and seven Tijuana Luchadores. The San Antonio Marshals will have home field advantage so that might give them the edge this game. They both have very similar stats coming into this one. The Luchadores may be looking to win one close after dropping two game in a row. With such close stats in this game I'm going to have to go with the Luchadores coming out with a big road win against the Marshals.

It’s a weird feeling not being in control of your own fate and destiny. A win here, a loss there, and now with two weeks to go, the Cats are on the outside looking in. Should they manage to perform, and capitalize on their best season to date, and win the next two games against the legion and otters, it still doesn’t guarantee the first appearance for the team from San Jose. Rather, not only must San Jose win their next two games, but they have to rely on the Hawks, who are fighting for their own playoff lives ,to come out with a win against the Otters in week thirteen. Should the Hawks fail, and the Otters manage to win in Baltimore but lose in San Jose, then it becomes even more difficult for the Sabercats to make it. The next tie breaker is by points scored. San Jose has to not only win, but win in such a convincing and meaningful fashion that teams will think that this is the hottest streak around. The Sabercats have to score 50 more points than the Otters do in these next two weeks, which means about 25 more points per game, plus whatever points the Otters get against the Hawks. Sounds kind of crazy right?

The playoffs are already decided. The Otters are headed to Arizona for the fourth season in a row to attempt to bring home the Solis. The Liberty are headed to Yellowknife to attempt to bring home the frozen version of the Solis. It's hard to describe scenarios since they're already happened, but I guess we'll take a whack at it.
The Hawks missed the playoffs. They were close. They had a shot. But with the Wraiths being lucky as hell this year and the Liberty living up to expectations there just wasn't room in the playoffs for the pigeons. In the not frozen areas of the world there was a shot for the sabercats. But it also didn't happen. They ended up matching the record really unlucky Otters and losing by points scored and the other spot went to the 3 people who play as the Outlaws team. What about the Yeti and the legion? Well, the scenario needed for them to win would be if every other team in their conferences would have been banned. Even then, it might not work. Perhaps if the teams died in a plane crash, they might work. I don't know, that might not work either. Hank Winchester (S25 - Current) - Scrub

Written: Must include 200 words. The season is winding down and the playoff picture is getting a bit more clear. Write about some scenarios that could unfold based on the final weeks of play. Who's already eliminated? What needs to happen for a team in the hunt to steal a playoff berth? How's home field shaping up? Etc.
With the national simulation football league playoffs on the horizon for season four one thing is the same as it has been during the previous three seasons. The power house Arizona Outlaws have secured home field advantage yet again and look like a strong bet to make the Ultimus championship game again. The ASFC has proven to be the much stronger conference in season four with the Arizona Outlaws leading it with a record of 12-2. Following behind the Arizona Outlaws are both the Orange County Otters and the San Jose SaberCats who both have a 9-5 record. Looking over at the NSFC you have the Yellowknife Wraiths leading the conference with a record of 8-6. The San Jose SaberCats have a better record in third place in the ASFC than the Yellowknife Wraiths have in first place in the NSFC. The records don't matter though, now that the playoffs are here it can become an any given Sunday type of situation. One game is all it takes to lift a team into the Ultimus championship game for a chance at winning it all and hoisting the Ultimus Trophy for themselves as champions of the National Simulation Football League. It will be an exciting playoff to watch and see who shows up to play. 200+ words. |
