Not really sure what to talk about here. The biggest things of note that have happened since I joined are the Yeti finally winning some games after a few seasons and the big Liberty fire sale, but I'm not informed enough about either of those things to write 200 words about them. Instead, I'm going to be selfish and write about the best DSFL team that won absolutely nothing: my S8 San Antonio Marshals. This squad was stacked all over the place. Kevin Fitzpatrick under center, Brock Weathers and Jesse Marchand controlling the front 7 on defense, Bucky Barnes and Oskar Ludvig tearing it up in the secondary, Footballer Catcherman the receiving yards leader, and last but not least the appropriately named, record-setting running back Marquise "Touchdown" Brown. This team dominated all season except for a 3 game stretch from weeks 5-7 which would be the teams only regular season losses. They went undefeated in preseason, finished 11-3 in the regular season, and then went home empty-handed after being defeated by their bitter rivals and the eventual Ultimini Champions, the Tijuana Luchadores. Even worse, it was a case of 1-and-done for a lot of the team as Barnes, Fitzpatrick, Weathers, and Catcherman all would move on to the NSFL forcing Marshals management into a big shake-up.

WRONG SPOT!
In the NSFL, championships are won through hard work, blood, and tears. In season 8, the Yellowknife Wraiths showed that with an Ultimus victory that set them atop the professional football world.
Well, then season 9 came around. None of us are really quite sure what happened, but we just so happen to be sitting at 3-5, where we are well out of the playoff picture. We have an aging core group of players, that is unquestionable, but going from the best team in football to where we are now is still quite the shock, really. There may or may not be whispers of locker room issues, but anyone on the squad will assure you that that just is not the case, even if the sudden departure of defensive end Jayce Tuck was a blow to both that group and our defensive front. Our offense has not produced the way it did a year ago, either, which is troubling, and in general, we just can not figure out what the hell is going on. At first, it seemed like it was just a slow start, and were able to rally back to a .500 record, but two straight losses have really made it look like we aren't going anywhere this year. With any luck, we can turn this around and run the table, but we are in dire straits at the moment. What happens next, no one knows. Ah yes, last season was truly glorious. The Arizona Outlaws’ kicker and punter Dean Jackson had a fantastic season where he went 100% on field goals. Yes, 100%! It’s incredible. Unbelievable. Dsvsojcslly because he had to share the season 6 kicker of the year award with Otters kicker Bradley T Madlad. Yes, last season, season 6. What’s wrong with that?? NOTHING HAS HAPPEJED SINCE THEN. Dean Jackson has NOT just had the worst season of his career. He is NOT being outplayed by conference rival Iyah Blewitt. Dean Jackson’s secret is NOT stupid tired.
Truly nothing of note has happened since Season 6 since season 6 was the last season to happen. However, if Mackworthy had hypothetically set a rushing yardage record in Season 8 and was on pace for another new record set in Season 9, that’d be pretty baller, but not completely unexpected since Reg Mackworthy is a pretty baller guy. Also hypothetically of note would be the Wraiths winning the Ultimus then becoming complete ass. Undoubtedly disappointing for fan and good fans everywhere. He did I mention NOLA and Baltimore are doing pretty good now and they’re leading the league confidently. Meanwhile Liberty does better than they should. (201 words) |
