Cameron Olsen, former East Carolina University Pirate, has declared for the NSFL/DSFL draft. This Tight End out of North Carolina has proven season after season that he is a Yards Per Catch fiend, averaging 13.03 YPC over his four years at ECU.
At Middle Way High School, Olsen was rotated between Defensive End and Linebacker during his Freshman and Sophomore years due to his abnormally fast speed matched with a large body. After Middle Ways starting Tight End suffered a season ending injury, Olsen tried his hand at using his speed and body to overpower defenders instead of being one. This began his ascent into the school and state record books as his junior and senior year of high school netted him 2112 yards with 161 catches giving him a YPC average of 13.11.
He was scouted and recruited by East Carolina University to continue his football career and was given a full scholarship to do so. As a true Freshman, Olsen did not see much playing time but was able to keep up his stellar YPC ending the season with 481 yards on 37 catches. With the impact he made, his next season got him back into the starting position and he made good use of his time. Olsen set the season receiving yard record for East Carolina with 1183 yards on 87 catches and proceeded to smash it during his final season as a Pirate. Catching passes from Junior Quarterback Baker Newton, Olsen posted 1237 yards with 94 catches solidifying himself as the number one offensive rookie draft prospect out of North Carolina and quite possibly the nation.
