It’s almost time for the playoffs! I’m eager for the Birddogs to win their Week 16 bout and enter the postseason. More importantly, I’m looking forward to my favorite time in the league: being drafted in the upcoming ISFL Draft. It’s been fifteen long seasons since my last player was drafted to the Philadelphia Liberty; I’m ready to once again get excited over mock drafts, predictions, and draft pool analyses. The S35 class is pretty large and pretty fun.
It also means that it is time for scouting to begin in earnest. To this point I’ve already been scouted by quite a few teams, and I do genuinely enjoy answering draft questions. But what I enjoy most about draft interviews is when an interview gets off the first few standard boilerplate questions and moves into more specific topics. So to help alleviate that somewhat, and to clarify some positions of mine for teams that scouted me before I had made up my mind on some things, here is a small self-scouting exercise:
User: I’ve obviously been in this league for over three years now and had two other player careers, which I don’t think is new information for any GM. Neither of my players lasted a full 13 years; I retired Morgan Marshall after four seasons because I was unsatisfied and frustrated with his career progress, and I went inactive for around a full real-life year around halfway through Venus Powers’ career, which meant her time got cut short a little. My life was pretty busy and stressful at that time; I was going through the college admissions process and generally needed time away from the league to focus on senior year. I obviously can’t see into the future, but there is essentially no risk of me going inactive for Regina Ferraro. I am dead-set on getting to 13 seasons, come hell or high water, and I have more time on my hands nowadays.
What might be new information for some GMs that don’t know is that I am female and use she/her pronouns. I really want to make that clear.
Player: My number one goal for Regina Ferraro is to put myself in the best position possible for a shot at the Hall of Fame. This obviously depends on sim luck. But the most important thing that I can control to that end is playing time. I absolutely do not want to be sent back down to the DSFL. If you cannot afford to give me playing time my rookie year, then please do not draft me.
Now, to that end, I am willing to position switch to help facilitate that goal. If you have a spot open at free safety, that is my preference. But I am willing to make the switch to linebacker, strong safety, or even cornerback (roughly in that order) to get playing time. if I have to stay at nickel back for my first season, that’s not ideal but it’s not a dealbreaker.
TPE: I am a max earner, always have been, always will be. Marshall and Powers were both near the tops of their classes in TPE, and Ferraro currently is right in the mix for the S35 class. I sometimes miss a task a season from sheer stupidity on my end, but otherwise I will be a complete max earner.
Money: I earn money through writing media (and jobs, if I can manage to get one). I am already pretty rich and am about to be richer. Money is no concern to me.
Team: As long as a team can meet the call-up requirement, I have no qualms about playing with any team. There is maybe one team max that I would have to swallow some biases to play for. If your team has an active locker room and general good team spirit, I don’t care whether you are right in the hunt for an Ultimus or in a rebuild; I’ve been in both situations before. I am an active locker room participant and enjoy talking to people.
I was a staunch team loyalist for both previous careers and that won’t change now. Whoever drafts me will almost certainly remain my team for my entire career barring unforeseen extreme circumstances. My number two goal for Regina Ferraro is to finally win an Ultimus, but I don’t want to ring chase – I’d prefer to win it with the same team I’ve always been on.
Because of that, I’m not going to try and force my way back onto my previous teams. I will always be grateful for my times in Yellowknife, Philadelphia, and Honolulu, but it doesn’t mean I need to stay there forever.
Sim: Nope, I can’t help with that. I have neither the time nor the money to get the sim and become useful with it. I am willing to help with scouting if needed, and I love being in war rooms, but simming is not my field of expertise.
Miscellaneous/Conclusion: If you’re going to draft me, please scout beforehand. I like having scouting conversations, despite the existence of this article, and it doesn’t even need to be particularly involved or long since most of your questions have probably been answered here. Just don’t be radio silent and then draft me. Feels rude.
Thanks for reading – this is nowhere near as involved or as long as my usual media output but I thought this could help scouts and maybe a mock draft or two idk.

Transgender lesbian, S15 veteran, media extraordinaire, and the sim's punching bag. Fascists and bigots are welcome to fuck off.
