Closed, ready for grading. Thanks for the questions!
Hello, I am Morgan Marshall, Princeton running back and DSFL draft hopeful. If anyone has any questions I’d be more than happy to answer.
Answers
1. What is your impression of the league so far?
Very positive. It took a while to get used to the layout of the forums and how things operated, but I’m excited for the offseason and the DSFL draft.
2. What led you to choose the RB position?
Running back has always been my favorite position to watch; if I was going to play football in real life, I’d probably end up being a running back. I love the versatility and skill sets of different players like Alvin Kamara or James White and emulated myself in that mold.
3. As a receiving back, you tend to excel at a variety of roles. Are you comfortable subbing in for a TE or WR? Or would you rather catch passes exclusively out of the backfield?
I’d be comfortable fitting in at almost any skill position needed by my team. Versatility is super important to me, and if I needed to take snaps at the receiver or tight end position, I would gladly do so. The most important thing to me is helping my team succeed, no matter where I’m lined up.
4. What kind of bear is best?
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
5. What person and or event has had the most influence on your life? Why?
I’d probably have to say my dad. He’s always been there encouraging my dreams, whether that was to excel academically or to pursue my ambitions in cross-country and football. He raised me with a passion for the game and has always been there for me, especially when I made the decision in junior year of Princeton to commit to football instead of cross-country.
6. What are your long term goals in football?
I’d love to become a franchise starter in the NSFL. It’s going to be a tough road given the massive influx of competition, but I think that all the pressure will only help me thrive more. I definitely never want to lose my competitive edge, and keep pushing myself to improve my game. It won’t be easy, but hopefully my time in the DSFL will help me stand out.
7. What teams interest you the most?
Right now, I’m most interested by the Palm Beach Solar Bears- I’ve received communications from them and there’s certainly mutual interest there. I think playing on an expansion team would be a fun experience. I’m not ruling out any team, however, and I will gladly go anywhere I can make a contribution and maybe win a championship.
8. Why are you the best running back in this draft class?
It’s a tough question to answer just because there’s so many other prospects I’m going up against, but I think the deciding factor is my commitment to the game and my versatility. I’ve already invested a lot of training into shoring up certain aspects of my game and will take almost any opportunity to gain training points. As it stands right now, I think I am the running back in the draft with the fewest red flags and the most suited to fit into any particular scheme. My straightline speed isn’t quite as high as the speed backs in the class (yet), but I have solid fundamentals across the board and a good combination of agility, speed, pass-catching, and intelligence that will push me over the more one-dimensional prospects.
