(S23) - PT 4 - The Butterfly Effect

How did your player’s reaction change the way that their career has unfolded? What ramifications has their choice or circumstance had on their future or on the league?

Well one important moment in Jim Waters' career was his position switch. He played backup QB at Tijuana Luchadores, and was third string in Hahalua, so he decided to switch to cornerback to help his team. He was a mobile QB so already had a lot of speed on him, which really helped him at cornerback. Right now he is top-5 in the Cornerback of the Year race, and top-2 in the Defensive Rookie Of The Year race. He has no regrets from switching cause he knows Honolulu is in good hands with Luke Skywalker at QB, and he is owning at cornerback. With a monster 3 interception, 4 pass deflection game, it would not have happened if Waters' did not decide to make the switch to Cornerback. And alongside Shawn Dawkins, Buck Thornton, Jim Waters, and new player Ray-Ray Jackson. It made lots of ramifications on the league, as it made Honolulu a legit threat, who might make the playoffs this season, as a second season expansion team. The fact, that due to his switch, he was able to be called up right away, helped, since he wanted to go write into the NSFL, since on previous player, I never made it to the NSFL, with an active player. In summary, with Waters' switch to corner back, it really helped his career and his team. Look out for him in the awards ceremony.

If we're going to look at major football events in the life of Adelie de Pengu, then we have to go all the way back to when he first met Bjorn Ironside. Bjorn found a young, curious penguin who was fascinated by all things round and shiny and had turned him into a force of nature on the field. The day they met, Adelie had wandered off from his family. He had been venturing out because he'd seen a particularly shiny pebble. He knew that he had to have it and so he went after it desperately. The more he tried to get it, the further away he slipped. Before he knew it, he was lost. It was then that Bjorn discovered him. If he had been a good penguin and stuck to his nest, he'd never have met Bjorn. He would have never have played football. Chances are that the Norfolk Seawolves aren't as good as they are now without him. The New Orleans Second Line would have had to pick someone else in their draft. It seems minor at first, but with no Adelie, things change down the line. The DSFL draft looks different which could have led to NSFL teams picking differently. Teams are changed and perhaps Tijuana don't even win the championship last season. One change, one missing person and everything can be upended. Now instead we have a young star looking to take the league by storm.

Daria Guava-Fresca has had many opportunities for playing and learning in this league. When she joined the Norfolk team, she found an immediate kinship with Adelie de Pengu. The two of them became incredibly close, and she has found that this friendship may help to define her time not only on the Norfolk team, but as a player in both the DSFL and the NSFL.

This friendship, however, became strained after recent allegations came to light regarding Bjorn Ironside. For those that are unaware, de Pengu is a close friend of Ironside, in fact, Ironside has taken it upon himself to train and continue de Pengu's career within the league. While Ironside and de Pengu are incredibly close, the allegations against Ironside caused a strain on the relationship between de Pengu and Guava-Fresca, particularly since Guava-Fresca was the one who initially created the allegations.

While it has not been easy to maintain a friendship when you feel that your friend's leader is taking advantage of them, de Pengu and Guava-Fresca have persisted in their relationship. In fact, at de Pengu’s insistence, Guava-Fresca has joined in a regular game of Dungeons and Dragons that is housed at Ironside’s home. With this newfound interaction with Ironside, Guava-Fresca has recognized that the giant defense tackle truly has de Pengu’s best interests at heart. He would do nothing to cause a rift within the Norfolk and NOLA families, and just wants what is best for them.

Allowing this to put her mind at ease, Guava-Fresca has decided to also benefit from a relationship with a NSFL giant.

When looking over the short career Clark Boyd has had in the NSFL, there don't seem to be very many major decisions or significant turning points. The only instance where a career-affecting choice was made was when Clark was called up to play for the Sarasota Sailfish this season. After playing behind James Angler at Myrtle Beach for S22, it was unclear whether or not Boyd would stay behind while his teammate moved up. After all, wouldn't he just play behind him again? Despite the success he found in the later weeks, Clark was still unsure how he would fare should he leave the DSFL.

However, the choice would not be his, and the GMs in Sarasota felt that he was ready. And even though he didn't think that this was true initially, Clark was more than happy to heed the call. Playing up in only his second active season was a big move, and a welcome one. Sure, he's not the best tight end in the league. But there's nothing stopping him from reaching that point someday. Constant improvements and development thanks to the support down in Sarasota have set him on a path to success, one that may have been offset had he played down.

In his youth Heinrich Kackpoo was destined for greatness. Due to his outstanding physical talents he tried out many different sports. At first he was trying himself at soccer. He was talented, but he thought that the restricitive rules when coming to body contact were detrimental to the game. Often his opponent players fell down and simulated fouls. So Heinrich decided to try out other activities.
He was decent at basketball, and even tried to compete in wrestling. One day a friend of him introduced him to the game of football. He catched fire right of the bat. After the first training with his local team, the Lichtenau Graders, he knew that it was football, that he wanted to dedicate his life to. When playing his first game he was showing his potential right from the start. His coaches lined him up at Safety. He liked it but he really wanted to get more action beneath the line of scrimmage. So he chose to play as linebacker. The ongoing battle with the opposing players, the tactics, the overall versatility that this position needs were just the challenge he was looking for his whole life.
So in conclusion, the day that Heinrich Kackpoo decided to be all in to the sport of football was also the first day he ever heard of that sport. That really shows his passion for the sport.

There was one big turning point in my career and it's a pretty obvious one. When I was drafted by the Orange County Otters, I was a little surprised, to say the least. They had current superstar Franklin Armstrong entrenched as their starter and he wasn't even close to needing a replacement. I had fallen to the end of the second round and every other team passed on me so they saw value in the pick. I was a little worried about my career prospects because I knew I would sit behind Armstrong for a long time. Credit to the Otters management becaues they messaged soon after the draft telling me not to worry and that they had a plan for me. Cue the turning point.

One day, I got a call from my GM. I was in Myrtle Beach in the DSFL when I answered. On the call, I was told that I was getting traded to the Philadelphia Liberty to be their starting quarterback. They had just lost Adriana Falconi to retirement and needed a young arm to take over the franchise. I went from backing up a star in Armstrong for the majority of my career to becoming a starting quarterback in NSFL in just one call. I thanked the Otters for giving me the chance in the draft and for sending somewhere where I could build my own legacy. It was a huge turning point and one that I'm very grateful to Orange County for.

The turning point in the life of Douglas Quaid could be no other than the time he went to Rekall. Rekall is a company that sells memory implants. Whatever you could imagine they could implant that memory into your brain. At that point in Quaid’s life he was getting sick and tired of the same old grind. He was a struggling construction worker that spent 12 hours per day operating a jackhammer. It was time to spice things up. At Rekall they have choices such as becoming a millionaire playboy, sports star, secret agent, or industrial tycoon. Quaid always dreamed of being a great football player. He scraped together all the money he had but just before they could carry out the neuro implant Quaid had a relapse. In the frenzy one of the technicians stabbed Quaid in the neck with a syringe filled with elephant tranquilizer. They argued with each other. They said Quaid was freaking out about them ruining his football career. The other said he was just playing out the ego trip of his memory. But the first technician said that wasn’t possible, as they didn’t even start the implant. It begs the question, is Quaid’s current career in the NSFL real or is it recall? That’s his mission to find out. (215 words)
