PS. Edit with adding OPotY/DPotY/STPotY to the Personal Achievement section is now at the bottom, and we've got three new winners!
The Triple Crown is an achievement given to three year old horses who won three races in a single year, the 2,000 Guinea Stakes, The Derby, and the St Leger Stakes. There have been 12 (or 15 depending on asterisks) winners since the mid-19th century and none since 1970.
This concept has translated to other fields, of course. There are the Triple Crown Throughbreds (United States) for American racing, the Triple Crown of Motorsport for winning the Indy 500 + 24 Hours of Le Mans + Monaco Grand Prix in a career (1 winner), the Triple Gold Club of hockey for winning an Olympic Gold + World Championship Gold + Stanley Cup of the NHL. You’ve also got things like the Major League Triple Crowns where a batter must win Batting Average + Home Runs + Runs Batted In in the same season, or Wins + Strikeouts + ERA for pitchers.
Moving away from sports, you have such awards like the EGOT, for winners of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony in a career. The EGOT can be expanded to PEGOT to include a Peabody or Pulitzer prize, and even further to a MacPEGOT for a MacArthur Fellowship.
For me, I’ve had a few things that I’ve thought of as top achievements in the ISFL. These achievements in no particular order are:
These three things make up the pinnacle of achievement in the ISFL for me, with potentially adding a Hall of Fame award for a Shining Triple Crown.
So, what about looking at the ISFL Triple Crown and seeing if anyone has won these? We’ll start our search with S39, the inception of the Geminis.
If you’d like to skip ahead or see if you’re close to winning a Triple Crown, you can lookup your name on this spreadsheet: Lookup Spreadsheet
The first crown of ours is the Championship, winners of either the Ultimus or Ultimini in a season. Since S39 with the Kansas City Coyotes and the Yellowknife Wraiths, we have had 250 unique users win one of these awards. There have been 14 total chances of winning in this category here, but I wouldn’t expect more than 5.
@domffl is the most prolific winner, having won both the S39 Mini and Ultimus alongside the S44 and S45 Minis for 4 total championships. Of all the users, he is the best at accumulating hardware.
Eight users have won 3 times: TubaDeus, Kotasa, BRNXBOMBERS, Chrundle, allbetsonjames, CROney3, UltimateDestroye, Buttersquatch101. You might recognize a lot of Tijuana and Arizona names on the list + TubaDeus.
Filtering down to 2 Championships won, we have 38 users and some 200 users with a single win in the league.
The second crown is for personal achievement, in the sim as MVP, as the Most Dedicated Member, or GM of the Year.
This crown is interesting. You can technically win four in a single year, DSFL MVP, DSFL GMotY, DSFL MDM and ISFL MDM, but I wouldn’t expect a single person to get more than one in a single season. 58 awards since we’ve started counting up for grabs when you include ISFL and DSFL + GMotYs coming in pairs, but generally speaking I’d say only 3 are as many as you could win in a single season. DSFL MDM is locked to new users so we’d be looking at a GMoTY + ISFL MDM + MVP as the reasonable high water mark earning, which is already kind of an impossible list, two would be amazing..
Since S39, we’ve had 45 unique winners, and we have a single standout in @PugWalrus. Pug has won GM of the Year three times, S40 in the DSFL, S43 in the ISFL and is the reigning GMotY with S45 Austin as well.
11 users have a pair of awards here, Repgnar, negs, I Love Feet!, wizard_literal, toofpete, SnowyWolfz, swoosh, lordcoolcats, Sebster, DarknessRising, and repgnar. We have two players with 2 ISFL MVPs in this time, with Preston Beatz and Kumquat Archipelago as dominant players during this stretch.
If we combine the Championship Crown and Personal Achievement crown, we are down to 33 users who have both of these.
The third crown is the Media Crown, for generating content for the league. This is the hardest achievement to earn, as there are only 4 per season, and depending on user age (3+ seasons), you are only eligible for 3. The awards here are for Best Article (Limited), Best Article (Series), Best New Author, and Best Author. I do believe that collaborating authors could win a Gemini together, pushing the total number available to over the base 28, but that has not happened yet.
In total, 17 unique users have won a Gemini Award, and maybe not so surprisingly, fewer than half of the winners only have 1!
The users to have won a single Gemini are: Modern_Duke, NicholasTheGreat, nickyvmlp, kenvald, Crunk, TheRake, ZodiacEXE, and AW13.
Users with two are: infinitempg, wizard_literal, ztarwarz, lemonoppy, lock180, CaptainDMG, and Amkamkamk.
Users with three are: aeonsjenni and caleb.grim.
So, from our numbers we have:
Championship Crown winners: 250
Personal Achievement Crown winners: 45
Media Achievement Crown winners: 17
Technically 17 candidates for the ISFL Triple Crown as that’s our maximum and lets see where they stack up:
aeonsjenni - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 3 Media Achievement
Amkamkamk - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
AW13 - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
caleb.grim - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 3 Media Achievement
CaptainDMG - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
Crunk - 2 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
infinitempg - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
kenvald - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
lemonoppy - 0 Championship / 1 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
lock180 - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
Modern_Duke - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
NicholasTheGreat - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
nickyvmlp - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
TheRake - 0 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
wizard_literal - 1 Championship / 2 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
ZodiacEXE - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 1 Media Achievement
ztarwarz - 1 Championship / 0 Personal Achievement / 2 Media Achievement
We have a single Triple Crown winner! @wizard_literal is the only user to win all three crowns and achieved it with:
Congrats to wizard_literal, the pondering of your orb has been fruitful.
The last list looked solely at the maximum possible winners with the number of Gemini Award winners, but we can also see that there are users that have differing lacks award wise:
This is a long list, 32 players in fact. I’ll put down users that have written this season and have a shot at one this season:
A Royal Road is something from esports, and maybe sports too, but I’ve known it from StarCraft: Brood War. A Royal Road is a term for a player who wins it all in their first season, and if we apply it to the ISFL, it’d be a Royal Triple Crown.
With only wizard_literal getting the Triple Crown, we know no one has achieved it but let's look at some rookie users who might:
@Fangorn - This user needs a Birddog win, an MDM (maybe for their wiki work), and a Gemini for Best Article (Limited) for their Tower of Power, Post-Match Interview, or character intro.
And that’s the entire list. @agorka could also win but I just assume a ban = no DSFL MDM for the season.
Another quirk would be adding the Golden Triple Crown, which would be all three achieved in a single season, but that also hasn’t happened.
Additionally we can also add Shining as a prefix, for those who are in the Hall of Fame, and Dub Redd is the candidate there. Dub Redd is a S41 DT, so if we do see him in the Hall of Fame, or as a user, it’ll be a while before we see a Shining Triple Crown.
The pinnacle of ISFL achievement then is the Shining Royal Golden Triple Crown for a Hall of Fame user who achieved a Triple Crown in the first season they joined, unlikely, but if you get a Royal Triple Crown, I'd kinda assume you get the Hall of Fame pace!

- S40 Best New Author
- S42 Best Article (Limited)
Congrats to wizard_literal, the pondering of your orb has been fruitful.
— Finding the Next Winner —
The last list looked solely at the maximum possible winners with the number of Gemini Award winners, but we can also see that there are users that have differing lacks award wise:
Needs a Championship
- lemonoppy (0/1/2) - Currently in the Ultimus, lemonoppy (me) just needs a win to get an elusive Triple Crown
Needs a Personal Achievement
- Crunk (2/0/1) - Surprisingly, Danny Nedelko has not won an MVP and now that he is regressing, it is unlikely he does. Crunk does not have the output to win an MDM or MVP this season.
- aeonsjenni (1/0/3) - Jenni is great, but after stepping down from the BBB GM position (and a playoff miss regardless), no GMotY incoming.
- NicholasTheGreat (1/0/1) - Bruce Buckley Jr is unlikely to win any MVP with a total 54 tackles.
- ztarwarz (1/0/2) - Luigi Numberone had a great season, 85 tackles + 1 sack, 5 forced fumbles, and an interception, but those are not MVP numbers.
- CaptainDMG (1/0/2) - After bursting onto the scene, CaptainDMG hasn’t updated since January, and Emmerson Bigguns had a great rookie season but nothing MVP worthy.
- nickyvmlp (1/0/1) - Florida Man has been moved from the tanking HON but with being somewhere around WR50 in receiving yards, no shot for an MVP.
- ZodiacEXE (1/0/1) - Crasher Wake is a fringe MVP candidate, but I would put his chances at <10%. 110 tackles (31 behind leader) but a league leading 23 sacks could push him into the Triple Crown this season.
Needs a Gemini
This is a long list, 32 players in fact. I’ll put down users that have written this season and have a shot at one this season:
- TubaDeus (1/1/0) - Tuba posted a S45 All-Pro article, but seeing as it is a piece informed by the Simulation Football Writers Guild, I would hesitate to put it likely for a Best Article (Limited).
- negs (1/1/0) - negs joins the Best Article (Series) category with his set of 3 articles on grading trades that have happened this season. The Best Article (Series) category is the most competitive it’s been, with Year of the Joker, The Weekly Mirror, Doghouse, and Daily Prophet vying for the win, and I don’t know if horrible website maker negs holds up.
— Bonus Crown Types —
A Royal Road is something from esports, and maybe sports too, but I’ve known it from StarCraft: Brood War. A Royal Road is a term for a player who wins it all in their first season, and if we apply it to the ISFL, it’d be a Royal Triple Crown.

— The Player of the Year Edit —
After posting this, there's been some talk about the awards, and I've added the Offensive Players of the Year, Defensive Players of the Year, and Special Teams Players of the year to the data set as well! They go in the same section as MVP/GMotY/MDM, and I am also considering moving that MDM out, but not convinced just yet.
With this, we get a few more winners!
With this, we get a few more winners!
- ♛ Crunk - With the addition of an ISFL Offensive Player of the Year in Season 42, Crunk joins our list!
- ♛ aeonsjenni - Jenni wins a DSFL Defensive Player of the Year in the Season 40. This actually means that she won the Mini, DPotY, and 2 Geminis (Best Series, Best Author) which is a Royal Golden Crown (Royal = first season, golden = all three in a single season)
- ♛ nickyvmlp - Nicky wins a Special Teams Player of the Year in Season 43, adding to their resume and bringing us to four crowned winners!
